TL;DR: Overpriced for what you get. 15+ minute wait even with reservations.
--------------------
For my sister's birthday, she decided to try a restaurant she had not patronized previously. She selected Sedona Tap House.
She made reservations and was dismayed that she could only reserve for 6 people when our party was originally to have 7 persons. In the end, one member of our party was unable to attend so it wasn't a problem. I am simply pointing this out in case future patrons with a large group wish to make a reservation; you are limited to 6 people.
Our reservation was for 2:15 pm. I was the first to arrive and checked in. I was early and let them know I was well aware I was 20 minutes early (less traffic than anticipated for the 80 mile drive) and merely wanted to inform them I was here for when the table was ready. I was informed that "the table was being cleared now." My sister arrived 15 minutes later, a mere 5 minutes before our reservation and she was given the same line about the table being cleared now.
We were finally seated 15 minutes after our reservation time. We were informed that we had "90 minutes from the time we were seated to finish." Oooookay. I've heard of such policies at all you can eat places, but not a la carte.
The waitress took our drink order and then took our food order when she brought the drinks. She was very good and attentive without being intrusive. She was a 5* waitress. My Soda tasted strongly of old ice, and the refills were no better. Sodas start at $3.50 for 8 oz tumblers.
We received our appetizers 45 minutes after we sat down. They were hot and fresh, but we were already half way into our 90 minute window. While the flavor was good, my crab and artichoke dip was a pretty small portion compared to other restaurants' I've patronized, and the $19 price tag is higher than those same restaurants.
The main courses arrived about 15 minutes after the appetizers. They were hot and fresh also, but I noticed lots of "open white space" on everyone's plates. Everyone said their food tasted good, but lacked enthusiasm when they said it. Even though everyone was "starving" when they arrived, there were several "to go" boxes needed at the end. Surprising when the portions were on the smaller size of average at best.
The Mediterranean Fish Tacos (2 per order) were on 6" shells and only one was eaten. Same with the two seafood enchiladas. They were not particularly large and of the two, only one was eaten.
I ordered the Hangover Burger. It was $19 and came with a side. I opted for asparagus and received exactly 5 medium spears. Per the menu, that comes to $1.00 per asparagus spear. 10 pieces of asparagus would be more appropriate for the price.
The burger was juicy and cooked as requested, but it was also quite salty with only a single piece of bacon on it. Honestly, it's a $10 burger, not a $19 burger.
It is a good thing they didn't enforce the 90 minute time limit because they didn't take our dessert orders until after the 90 minutes expired.
I understand this is a tap house and their forte' is alcohol. But for the prices charged, the food just wasn't all that. Maybe they hope you'll drink enough that you won't notice that detail.
