About Hungru

Taste the dish you can't pronounce.

Good food belongs to everyone — dishes, places, stories, and the taste identity behind them.

Hungru helps you find your next culinary adventure: the dish worth crossing town for, the restaurant worth saving, the chef worth following, and the food story you didn't know you were looking for. Eat like a local — local to global.

We connect real dishes, places, opinions and taste signals into a living food graph — and ask a better question than “where should I eat?”: what do you love, what do you return to, and which dishes define your taste?

Good food belongs to everyone

We cover the whole of it — the bakery on your corner, the shawarma you argue about, the tasting menu you save up for. A great plate doesn't care what it costs or how famous the kitchen is, so neither do we. The only thing we rank is whether it's worth eating.

A social network for culinary discovery

Hungru is part social network, part discovery engine, part personal food archive.

Your taste has a personality

Everyone has a taste identity — even before they have words for it.

Some people chase smoke, spice, acidity, texture, comfort, nostalgia, surprise, technique, freshness, chaos, elegance, or that one perfect bite they can't stop thinking about. Hungru helps you notice those patterns and turn them into something useful, personal and fun.

As you swipe dishes, save places and review meals, Hungru builds a living taste profile — shaped by what you actually care about, not just what's popular nearby. Then it points you at plates worth the trip.

Food discovery should be more human

Most platforms still treat food as a list of places, stars, filters and generic rankings. But nobody falls in love with “Italian nearby.” They fall in love with a specific pasta, a perfect bite, a tiny place someone they trust told them about, or a memory attached to a meal.

Hungru is building a deeper, more personal layer for discovery — less random, less generic, with room for surprise, curiosity and adventure.

How reviews work

Reviews on Hungru are written by people who ate the food, and they're attached to specific dishes — not just to a restaurant's overall star count. Reviewers appear under their own profile with their history visible, so you can see whose taste matches yours.

We don't sell rankings, and a restaurant can't pay to be rated higher.

Some restaurant and dish details are enriched automatically, including with AI. Those parts are labelled where they appear, and dietary or allergen information should always be confirmed with the restaurant itself.

Built from a real obsession with food

Hungru was founded by Shani Rahamim, a technical founder based in Tel Aviv, out of a simple obsession: food is one of the best ways to understand people, places and culture — but the tools we use to discover it still feel flat.

When she's not building Hungru, she's probably eating somewhere, cooking something, researching a dish, or watching a cooking show and calling it market research.
