Incredible hospitality and fantastic food. We couldn’t resist trying many things from the menu. Our server was the owner, and it was so clear he was passionate about the food! He gave detailed explanation about the dishes that made it taste even better. And the flavors were on point—from the refreshing sourness of the shafuta to the crisp fatoosh salad to the veggie marboka (so good slathered with the green chilis!) to the lamb fasha with fresh hot bread. Flavor and texture combos you won’t find elsewhere! And of course we tried the spiced Yemeni coffee. When I mentioned it was my sister’s birthday, he brought out a delicious, complementary piece of semolina cake with a honey syrup and two cups of shai So good, and even better with a little shai poured on top! From a cost perspective, you get large portions for a fair price, so be adventurous. Come for the food, stay for the hospitality. This is not an in-and-out-spot: it’s a time to linger and enjoy. This place has to be next on your list of places to try.
We happily stumbled into this place early on a Tuesday evening. We started with a fresh lime & mint cold beverage, shared Hummus with Lamb, and Beef Motabak appetizers, and the Mixed Grill entree with Rice. We had to force ourselves to stop eating so we could share a piece of Basbosa cake for dessert. We have so much left over and are looking forward to another round tomorrow. It was very quiet when we first walked in, some traditional background music would have been nice. The service was wonderful and everything was delicious!
The music was chill and nice, the waiter was incredibly nice and gave very delicious suggestions (be sure to ask!).
We ordered Foul, Tabbuleh Salad, Falafel, Hummus, Chicken/Lamb/Beef platter, Baba Ganouge, and Tzatziki sauce. Absolutely everything was amazing and flavorful, nothing was too much or too little and even after being satisfied we couldn’t help but keep eating.
This is a noteworthy restaurant to try out if you never had Mediterranean/Yemeni cuisine before. My family and I will definitely be coming back here!❤️
Marib
Be honest. You missed Apple. You missed Amazon. You missed Google. You missed Tesla.
Well, I’m here to tell you: do NOT sleep on Marib.
This place is a strong buy.
The food is fresh, vibrant, and clearly made with care. The salad is hand-chopped. The food tastes made from scratch. Flavors move from sweet to tangy to rich, and nothing feels anonymous or assembled. This is food prepared by people who are actually thinking about the person who is going to eat it.
Break away from the dreary lull of Sysco boil-and-serve meals that have made so many restaurants taste like slightly different versions of the same restaurant.
Go somewhere that still chops the vegetables. Go somewhere that still cooks.
Go to Marib.
Fresh. Generous. Vibrant. Memorable.
I’m buying and holding. ❤️
Marib is a gem in a town filled with chain restaurants. We went expecting your typical Mediterranean fare and were impressed by the range of food available.
I have a serious allergy to all mammal products including dairy and the manager kindly helped me to select a meal of sambousa, hummus (the best I’ve ever had), sautéed shrimp and Qishr (Yemeni coffee). My husband loved his lamb chop platter and baklava.
If you’re ever in the area, you have to check out Marib.
