Sapore Italiano is truly the best Italian food I’ve ever had. I wish that I could rate it more than 5 stars. My friend and I came to visit Cape May from Pittsburgh for the first time and enjoyed an amazing meal from Sapore while on our trip. We still talk about this place all the time and can not wait to come back! Amazing service, Amazing atmosphere, and AMAZING authentic Italian cuisine. I was so impressed that the chef visited the tables to ask everyone how their food was. By far the BEST restaurant in Cape May!!!!
The Gnocchi sauce was not flavorful. The bread tasted liked it was picked up from the grocery store. My table was not given water refills like the other tables were. The waitress was off put and rude. The music was very loud for the room and dark. The food service was quick but to get the check took awhile.

Food was absolutely fantastic! I thought this would have been a factory type Italian place based on the name, low prices, size and the fact that Cape May is super busy this time of year. Not so - food was fantastic! Mussels in white sauce appetizer was so freakin good... like damn! Same with the Pasta Fagioli soup - so simple but absolutely perfect balance between fat, creamy, savory and acid - best I ever had. Rack of lamb was cooked perfectly - sauce was good but nothing to write home about. One issue was that it took over 40 minutes between courses before the entre' came out. Realize that rack of lamb can take time but no one came over to ask for our patience and all other tables were being served and actually turning over while we were waiting. Servers kept peeking around the corner at us but didn't approach - was kind of funny - like being ghosted. I politely but firmly expressed my displeasure. They didn't add the tip onto our check so perhaps that's why. Kinda felt bad but had to let them know. Other thing was that not all the items posted on line were on the actually on the menu in the store. All-in-all I'd go back in a heartbeat because the food was really, really, really good.

My husband and I went to dinner here while on our honeymoon. We waited a little bit for our waters and bread but the entrees were delicious! We both got gnocchis. The restaurant had a great atmosphere.

To start the food was very good. The reason for the 2 stars was our immediate impression from the hostesses. There were 2 at the podium. We walk in their heads were down, ignored us. When they finally looked up there was no “good evening,” no smiles, they just stared. We said we were with (named party) and they just pointed up the stairs. They were very rude, not welcoming and didn’t seem appreciative of our business. What kind of first impression is that?
Our waiter was okay, but not great as should be. He was not friendly. He did what he had to do, but also didn’t seem welcoming or caring to elevate our dining experience. When we left the hostesses were no better,,,no “thank you for coming,” and/or “have a nice evening.” The vibe that’s given is very important and Sapore should address their employees attitudes. There is many more places in Cape May that value their customers.
