South Philly Barbacoa is a place with incredibly delicious food and very friendly staff who make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. 🌟The food really stands out, everything is flavorful, authentic, and clearly made with care. 👌🌮🤤
That said, the restaurant can sometimes get very busy, which can slow down service or make things feel a bit chaotic. Even so, it’s absolutely worth the wait and/or being patient, because the experience and the food more than make up for it. 🙌🏼
On certain days, there’s also music or some variety in the atmosphere, which adds to the overall charm. Overall, it’s highly recommended: amazing food, great energy, and a spot definitely worth coming back to. 😃
A nice Mexican restaurant that has some great food. The service was friendly and helpful. I even saw the owner Christina Martinez engaging with customers and helping people (me) with what to order. The lamb and the corn is a must have.
Had their “special” for $60 cash only plus tax that consisted of 2 huge bowls of some sort of broth with few chickpeas and rice that was spicy, tortillas were chewy and rubbery. Lots of lamb for sure with condiments of cilantro, onions and green chili sauce, however everything was so bland and flavorless. The best part was the sweet tamale.
Way too expensive for street food and honestly would not recommend unless you are seduced by instagrams. Service was pleasant but basic. Huge disappointment since there are plenty of nicer places in the area.
This is the best tacos I've ever had. No lie, it's really really good. I use onions, cilantro, cactus and a green sauce they provide as toppings. Taste buds instantly delighted! Customer Service is always good. I love their Horchada and Jamaica (hibiscus) juices.
South Philly Barbacoa was such a gift to have at our wedding. Not only was it so special to have our guests try the best of the best barbacoa philly has to offer, but having Chef Cristina at the event was such a cherry on top. The food was incredible and they were willing to accommodate a menu change for my dad who has a seafood allergy. We never felt pressure from them food-wise and it was super easy to make adjustments to the order up until the week of the wedding. For my side of the family especially, I know it was a nostalgic experience to order from the cart set up for tacos and it was comforting to get to chat with Cristina. She was truly the best–fixing us a plate and making sure my husband and I ate at cocktail hour and at dinner. (photos by Lilith & Eve)
