Marugame (High Street Kensington) - Japanese Udon Noodles & Tempura (丸亀製麺)

Honestly! What a value for money for a quick lunch during work! I ordered through uber eats for collection and there was a one plus one free offer! We had the chicken katsu curry with udon and it literally cost us £6.50 each! We didn’t even pay for “large” and the portion was definitely more than enough! I will definitely be coming back!

Seriously one of the best meals we had in London was the curry udon noodle bowl I had here. Krispy Chicken on top. Nice spicy curry with some vegetables like carrots. All on top of a bowl of great udon noodles. We've had this restaurant before in the San Francisco Bay area and in Honolulu Hawaii. It never disappoints!

Was about to hop on the tube home on a cold, grey afternoon when I stumbled upon this Marugame in the station. Couldn’t resist so I went in and got myself a beautiful bowl of beef nikutama with a naughty little onsen egg. Nothing quite like it to get you through a cold day. The noodles were silky and the meat tender. Staff were also very accommodating. Five stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Marugame Seimen udon is an everyday affordable food in Japan. It is actually frequented by salaryman and young students in Japan. It is supposed to be affordable and cheap and quick and delicious. I do not know why in the UK, it has to be priced at such prices. A simple udon with a few tempura items and a drink can easily cost over 20+++ pounds. In comparison, the same meal would AT MOST cost a third of what you pay here. Yes I know these are two different countries, but the difference is just insane. The food quality is average at best. Broth is overly salty, the tempura items look sad and neglected under the heat lamp. I hate to compare prices of food from different economies, but this time I had too….. it’s just mad.

I came here twice. First time I had chicken katsu udon curry and it was very nice so I came back again. But this time I ordered pork tonkotsu udon and it was not nice at all the broth was too salty and wasn’t very hot for me(it was just warm).
