Absolutely delicious Northern Thai food! Staff members especially front of the house and Peary who served us today were really kind and welcoming. Peary also recommended us several dishes that can go well together, so we had good combination of small platters to share on the table. I am Thai and I can say that this Khao Soi really made me miss my home country. My husband's family who are British also enjoyed the level of spiciness, so please do try this iconic curry from Thailand. We will definitely come back when we are in London. Ps. Bottomless Thai Tea is divine!
10/10
Great spot. We sat outside
The pork belly, the salad and the sausage to start. All excellent and the right amount for two
We had the Wagyu Fillet and the Braised beef Khao Soi. It really was amazing. The curry broth was perfect. You can add chilli to your own level
My only comment would be that the proteins could have been seasoned a little more. Eating them without the curry sauce was under seasoned but that didn’t take away from it much
Still highly recommend
The vibe and staff were also excellent 👌
The namesake khao soi was delicious. Tasty rich broth with nicely cooked meats. I had the chicken thigh, my husband had the beef. We both enjoyed our dishes.
The starters were good, however the mango salad was tiny and not really worth the money.
I was recommended a mango sticky rice cocktail, which while tasty, was a bit on the heavy side. On top of the rich food it was a little too much.
Overall it was a nice experience, especially considering its central london location. Staff were attentive and general vibe was friendly and warm.
This is the fanciest khao soi I've ever had. The interior is nice and the staff were very helpful in explaining everything. The toppings that come with the khao soi is unlimited and I really appreciate that you can really control the spice level by adding more chilli or coconut milk. The flavour is great and really satisfied my khao soi craving. It's pretty pricey for a noodle but that's just the price of eating in central London... Would love to come back again!
I unfortunately had a bad experience with khao so-i.
1. They forgot our order and served the entree around 40 minutes after we finished our appetizer. If I hadn’t tell the staff to check on our food, I think we would’ve waited even longer. People that got there much later than us got their food around the same time.
2. We ordered the khao soi with braised beef shank and torched chuck eye. Unfortunately some pieces of the braised beef were unchewable. It’s supposed to be a slow cooked tender piece of beef but what we got was the total opposite. I couldn’t even take a bite from it.
3. My sister found a strand of hair in her food.
4. Parts of the noodles were stuck together which made it hard to eat in a comfortable size bites.
Not sure if we were unlucky and visited when the chefs had a bad day but the servers and other staffs were helpful and nice. We did order the nua yang jim jeaw as appetizers which was amazing and arrived at a reasonable time. But paying 24 pounds each for the Khao soi you would expect to be able to enjoy everything and not have to leave whole pieces of meat because you couldn’t take a bite from it.
The overall experience was not so great first because we had to wait for a very long time before getting the entrees and we aren’t sure how much longer we had to wait if we didn’t alert the staff. But then on top of that get very bad quality food. As a Thai person I naturally had a bit higher expectations for this place but at the same time wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but unfortunately the food did not live up to the standards at all.
