Chaiiwala is a popular chain of Indian street food cafes across the UK, known for its authentic chai and quick bites. The Birmingham Tyseley branch offers a casual dining experience with ample seating, convenient parking, and a dedicated prayer room, making it a reliable spot for families and quick meals.
Customer perception is mixed. Many appreciate the fast and friendly service, the consistent standard of food and drinks across branches, and the convenient amenities like seating and parking. However, common complaints include issues with food quality and preparation (e.g., cold meat, raw bread, insufficient fillings, dry dishes), and some find the 'Karak coffee' to be too milky. There are also mentions of facilities like toilets being out of order and staff not always resolving complaints effectively.

We’ve visited Chaiiwala Tyseley in Birmingham several times when in the area visiting family, and it’s always been a reliable food spot. The service is fast and friendly, and the food and drinks are served to the same standard you’d expect across their UK branches.
There’s a good amount of seating, including tables and booth options, so it’s easy to find a place to sit even when it’s busy. One downside, though, is that on our last few visits the toilets have been out of order, which is a bit disappointing when you have children who need the facilities.
It’s also worth mentioning that this branch has a prayer room.
Parking is convenient, with plenty of spaces available in the same business park. You’ll also find other food options nearby like Popeyes, Sbarro, and an EG brand petrol station.
A good dependable place for a quick chai and bite to eat just hope the facilities are sorted soon.
Service was quick, there wasnt really a wait for the food. I brought the egg roll with chicken sausage which comes with hash brown and Karak coffee or chai. If your a coffee lover dont have the Karak coffee as its pure milk with a lil coffee flavour. Food was average, the only thing that was fresh was the omlette. The sausage, roti and hash brown are all packaged frozen trash
I’ve emailed head office about this because the service and food was terrible. I ordered a chicken kebab roll the first one was completely plain the couldnt be bothered to add the sauce or the onion garnish. I then went back in to let them know and asked for a fresh one to be made one minute later they brought me back out the same wrap just with sauce on and by then the meat inside was already cold, so I let them know that this is unacceptable. Either make me a fresh one or I require a refund. Then when they made me a new one parts of the naan bread was raw?!? I’ve never seen anything like it
I ordered the butter chicken and spinach toastie, and it hardly had any chicken in it. The corners were completely empty and most of it was just spinach leaves. When I asked a staff member about it, he said That’s our portion size If that’s the case, then why are customers being misled by the menu photos showing a toastie full of chicken? On top of that, it was burnt as well.
Very disappointing experience.
What can I say. I keep giving this franchise the benefit of the doubt. Battery way branch has a very 'don't care attitude' about complaints and how the food is presented or the quality/quantity given. I ordered a Tikki Bun which literally just had the Tikki in it. No Sauce. No Garnish/salad. It was very dry. I was Just Bun n Tikki. Felt Robbed as the prices are absolutely extortionate at Chaii Wala it is absolutely not worth getting most food from here. I've been stung on more than one occasion but never complained but it had to be done this time. Staff do not offer to sort issues out. So resorted to complaining on here and leave a review.
