An exclusive, five-story luxury members' club in Tel Aviv, active in 1984. It was a magnet for Israel's elite, a hub for gossip, and considered the birthplace of the 'capital-government' nexus. It was mysteriously burned down exactly 100 days after its opening.
Very good food, attentive service, and a pleasant atmosphere. However, the overall experience felt overly commercial and disappointing. In our view, the restaurant is overrated and does not justify its premium pricing.
From the outset, the welcome felt somewhat impersonal.
Following the staff's recommendation, we allowed them to choose the dishes for us. Unfortunately, we left with the impression that increasing the bill was prioritized over creating a balanced dining experience. The cost ended up being roughly 50% higher than the tasting menu which they refused to offer because we were 3 and not 2 or 4 ..., and an excessive number of dishes were served over just an hour and a half, making the evening feel rushed rather than enjoyable.
While the staff remained courteous throughout, the overall impression was that "fat & rushed" meal & bill was prioritized over the guest experience.
This was our second visit to 'a', and unfortunately, it will also be our last, for what they offer we had way better experiences in Tel Aviv.
Delicious and innovative food and really good service, a is definitely one of the top restaurants in Israel right now. It's not comfort food and you shouldn't expect big plates, but the food is delicate and accurate, and is prrpared using high quality, sometimes unique ingredients.
The fish skewer and tempura dishes were extremely tasty and the steaks that we had were one of the best we had in Israel.
a is a place worth visiting and a trip worth taking, I would definitely come back.
We had a wonderful time! The waitstaff suggested a personalized "fixed menu" and it was simply exquisite. Everything was delicious, even exciting, and the staff was attentive, friendly, and polite. Even with wine and a dessert, our bill (for two) was under 1000 NIS and it was worth every prutah. One of the two best meals of my life.
High-end cuisine at its finest; we have savored every bite. The dishes are creative and unique, the design is beautiful, the atmosphere is perfect, and the service is impeccable.
