I would highly recommend Vineria Modi, and it is quite delicious. I would have given it a 5 star review if we hadn’t dined at Blum the night before, which we decidedly enjoyed more. I would be happy to dine at either again, though. I would particularly like to call out the staff and the sommelier at Vineria Modi as they were wonderful. The wine pairing was absolutely worth it! The food was good, but it just wasn’t at great as Blum. The standout was the beef tartare for us. The pace was also slightly rushed at Vineria Modi comparatively. As I said, I would recommend it, but, given the choice, would go back to Blum first.
What an experience! The best restaurant we tried in Taormina. The flavours, service and atmosphere were all 5/5 and a bit over that.
Tasty amuse-bouches and the lamb ragu... No doubt it was the single best dish I tried in Taormina. The burst of flavours is something you cannot imagine without trying this dish.
Sommelier had great wine pairings with our selected dishes. We didn't go with the pre curated tasting menus, instead we chose three courses from the menu by ourselves.
The staff was very polite and had a nice and warm touch with the service.
If you want an ultimate food experience in Taormina then Vineria Modi is for you.
What a total mixed bag experience! In short: theres other consistently good restaurants in taormina with better service. But I can tell you what is good and not good about our experience. One- the host/ manager is lacked hospitality upon welcoming. We were going up to the door and he loudly says no more tables left no more tables left. Like sir, we have a reservation. The atmosphere was lovely, the restaurant glassware and plateware is beautiful. And then we went received the appetizer- octopus, amazing, and the pasta lamb ravioli was amazing too! The burst of flavor in your mouth I can still recall. And if we had stopped there, we would have been happy. But then, the fish came. First I SMELLED it before seeing it, pungent, and fresh fish does not smell. I took a bite and it was inedible. I never in my memory have returned a dish of food, but I had to, i probably would've gotten sick from eating it. I let the manager/ host know and he was offended. Saying things like we only serve fresh fish, and arguing about it lol. While the smell of it was lingering there amongst us. He swapped it out for the other fish which was a swordfish, that one didn't smell it was ok, with a mushroom sauce. So if you want to enjoy your meal here just have the appetizer and pasta, skip the entree. Its too bad the lack of hospitality and accountability, this had been the third Michelin restaurant of the week and I have never been through anything remotely like this. And I'd probably go back if they just apologized and moved on, but the host kept saying things and trying to defend the smelly fish. I will say though, The sommelier was very kind and so was our waiter. I recall spending 144 euro for my meal.
This was our last meal in Taormina and my friend’s birthday- it was absolute perfection. Every course was beautifully presented and delicious, and the service was top notch. The restaurant is on a quieter street so it’s not a busy hustle all around and creates a nice quiet atmosphere. I highly recommend you put this at the top of your list!
We visited at the beginning of March, and it was one of, if not the, most memorable meals we’ve ever had.
The service was impeccable from start to finish: attentive without ever being overbearing, striking the perfect balance throughout the evening.
My partner has a fish allergy, which was accommodated seamlessly across all courses, with no fuss at all.
We ordered from the à la carte menu and the food was exceptional. The quality of the ingredients truly shone through, and the level of care across every dish was first class. Highlights included the beef tartare with shaved truffle, as well as the lamb ragù and cheese-filled pasta (both the staff and other reviews insist you order this - and they’re absolutely right!).
Finally, the wine: Paolo’s pairing recommendations were spot on. A brilliant mix of interesting local Sicilian wines alongside excellent Italian and French options - the Burgundy selection in particular is seriously impressive.
