Ristorante Timeo

Last night my family and I ate at the timeo restaurant. We ordered the beef tartare and burrata with tomatoes for an appetizer. Both were outstanding. One of the best beef tartare I have ever had. There were 6 people in our group. We had the pasta alla Norma and they even cooked it right in front of our table. We also got the sea bass, steak for 2 and lobster pasta all of which were delicious. Also the food came with many sides such as grilled vegetables (a lot of them). We got many different desserts and liked every single one of them. Overall this was a very fancy restaurant with a good crowd of people and is good for a special dinner. The only con of this restaurant is how pricey it is but the food is exceptional.

During my recent trip to Sicily, I had the chance to visit Ristorante Timeo, a place that instantly impresses with its breathtaking views and unforgettable atmosphere. The setting alone feels like something out of a postcard elegant, serene, and perfectly positioned to take in the beauty of the island. The service was exceptional. My waiter was incredibly attentive without being intrusive, striking that rare balance that makes you feel genuinely looked after. In terms of hospitality, Ristorante Timeo delivered an experience unlike almost anywhere else I’ve visited. Where the restaurant fell short, however, was the food. For the price point, I expected dishes that matched the quality of the environment and service, but the main courses were surprisingly underwhelming. The flavors didn’t stand out, and overall the meals simply didn’t justify their cost. That said, I would absolutely return for the drinks and pastries, which were delightful and much more in line with what I had hoped for. Sipping a cocktail while taking in the view was arguably the highlight of my visit.

Looking at the photos, this place looked amazing. I went there, and the view was amazing, until we got sat. There is a divider of trees, planted trees, between the restaurant and the bar area. I was there for dinner, and we paid over €300 for our dinner, and we got sat right beside of the trees that separated the restaurant area from the bar area, and someone on the other side of the planted trees smoked the entire time, so it was a terrible experience when it comes to that and the atmosphere. Because of the row of trees beside of us, we got about half of a view, and we had no view of Mount Etna, and a bit of a view of the sea. The service was definitely superb, everyone was so friendly and definitely did everything they could to make our experience as great as it could be. I do not want to slight them on that. But because of the smoking the entire time we were there, as well as the price of over €300, and then also the fact that we only got three dishes (watermelon gazpacho, lobster linguine, anchovy pasta), it just was not worth we paid for it. For that price I would have expected to have something a bit better, where we could breathe freely. If they had two rows of the plants in between the restaurant and the bar area it would have been much better and honestly I probably wouldn’t have even been writing the negative aspect of this review. Anyways, because of this, I just cannot suggest it to other people, we unfortunately wish that we had just not eaten there. Who knows, if we had not had the table right beside of the trees, maybe this would be a totally different review. I will also say, the car service does not go anywhere near this hotel/restaurant, and because of this you have to walk up a very big hill to even get to the hotel/restaurant, which was definitely very tiring as well, and I was sweating like crazy by the time I got there and sat down.😬

We visited this restaurant to celebrate one of our group’s 40th birthday, and unfortunately the experience was very mixed. First of all, the setting itself is absolutely beautiful. The ambiance, atmosphere, and especially the view were fantastic. It truly feels like a special place and the location alone creates high expectations. Sadly, almost everything else was below expectations for a restaurant of this category. The service was often slow, and many of the dishes were disappointing. Two in our group asked for the same Cod for the main dish. Both were equally so excessively salty that it was impossible to finish. To be fair, two other dishes were genuinely good, but the rest was forgettable at best. What disappointed us even more was the attitude of the staff on several occasions. One particularly uncomfortable moment happened when a few people from our table briefly stood up and walked to a viewing spot where other guests were already taking photos. They simply waited their turn for the others to finish before taking their own pictures. At that point, a waiter commented that this behavior was rude and inappropriate. What made the situation especially frustrating was that many other guests did exactly the same thing before and after us, yet only our group was singled out. Even if the staff felt it was an issue, it could have been communicated in a far more polite and professional manner — or applied consistently to everyone. Another disappointing moment concerned the birthday celebration itself. The restaurant brought out the small dessert with the candle and began singing while two people from our group of six were in the restroom, meaning only four people were present at the table for the celebration. For such an important occasion, this felt careless and poorly timed. Overall, this restaurant has a stunning location and wonderful atmosphere, but the food, service, and hospitality did not match the setting or the price level. Unfortunately, what should have been a memorable 40th birthday celebration turned into a rather disappointing experience.

The two stars are awarded to the bartenders for their consistent, well-balanced, and delicious drinks. However, the food was disappointing at best. I would never return for the food, but I would definitely go back for the drinks. Just so you have an idea, the olives served with the drinks were the highlight of our meal.
