Really enjoyed our first experience here! Filé Gumbo was an exception to the rule that the best gumbo is at your aunties house. The owners are New Orleans royalty and they and their staff provide the kind of gracious hospitality that New Orleans does best. Cornbread and Catfish were 10+. The Corn Crawfish and Crab Chowder was perfectly peppery and you'd be hard-pressed to find a better version anywhere period. Menu online is just a portion of what they serve: I could have chosen any of the specials and been happy. We'll be back!
I had a Simply Amazing Experience
Do not got to New Orleans and not stop here--You will be very upset with yourself- This is MORE than a sausage factory its an Amazing Dining Experience- Everything this FRESH! The sausage tho I don't eat pork are freshly made how do I know I seen it with my own eyes the husband makes the sausage while the wife works the cash register. A dynamic dual. I also purchased the wife's cookbook she autographed it for me. In the middle of the lunch rush she stop to autograph my book. Yes you must go se3 what Im talking about.
10/10. My family and I visited recently and our food was soooo good. Like the crawfish etoufee taste better than the one I make. We r all from Nola but reside on the Northshore and had to stop in while in town for a volleyball tournament. We can’t wait to come back. The collard greens tasted like somebody grandma was in the kitchen plus that yellow cake with chocolate icing was my favorite. The sweet potatoe casserole and cornbread was delicious. The staff was so attentive and charismatic to our table and kept the laughs coming. Thank you. We will be back and recommend others as well.
What a fun lunch stop. This place is a restaurant and a deli, but it feels more like a little neighborhood show you get to be part of.
**Ambience**
There’s a lot going on in the best way. The deli-style bar setup, the energy behind the counter, and the constant motion make it feel lively and local. They’re only open for lunch, seating is limited, and it’s worth planning a little extra time if you want to eat in.
**Service**
Owner-operated spots can sometimes feel a bit tired. Not here. The husband-and-wife team was in the mix the whole time. They were working the register, serving, and keeping the room entertained with riddles. It felt genuinely welcoming.
**Food**
I split the gumbo and the shrimp-and-catfish plate. The fried shrimp and catfish were lightly battered and came with lemon. Add a dab of Crystal hot sauce, and it really works. The gumbo surprised me. The roux tasted a little light at first, but the depth showed up as I got deeper into the bowl. It ended up being really good.
One letdown: no unsweetened iced tea. In New Orleans, that’s a rare miss.
All in all, this is an easy return visit for me. Good meal, good value, and a good time.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ — a clear “good place, good value” with one notable miss (no unsweetened iced tea).
