Can’t wait to go back! The Tomahawk was
SO good. Sides were great…I also enjoyed the charcuterie board, And I also tried the Surf & Turf from a friend. I will definitely be back. I met the Chef and had to compliment him on how well the Tomhawk was cooked. Smokey, grilled, fatty, juicy… YUM YUM GIVE ME SOME!
ANGI was amazing she really took the time to get to know you as a person very friendly Couldn't have asked for a better server. The steak was juicy and cooked to perfection 👌 the Mac and cheese was topped with bacon And had a smokey cheesey flavor to it. yum. Unfortunately I did not save room for dessert
I use a more defined rating as I believe there is a very large difference between a 4 and 5 star rating! Similar to magnitude when rating an earthquake. Overall Blacksmith rates a 4.2 star experience, a good experience overall with some room for improvement. The Blacksmith it appears has built the menu to highlight steaks within an Irish pub-like ambiance, cozy to degree. I sat at a high table for two. Comfortable enough with fairly close proximity to other tables in this area (smaller parties of 2.)
The meal started with a Cesar salad, accompanied by three cheese curd, fried on side and softer inside and a cheese infused thin biscuit of sorts. These were more pleasant to view than on palate. Minimal taste, however, they added a bit of crunch to an othwise over-saturated salad. I ate 55% of this mediocre presentation. Less dressing with a side of dressing perhaps and fresher salad would make a positive difference? The old fashion drink was very good, quality bourbon (Buffalo Trace) a nice presentation. The main course the Northwest Ribeye was cooked to order, medium rare with a large portion of garlic mashed potatoes. Only one bite of steak couldn't be chewed, gristle. The au juice/Demi glaze, was dark without a dominant taste. Could be room for improvement here? Potatoes were a bit overwhelming in quantity and the texture was too smooth. Some pieces would add required texture and make them more palatable.
I arrived when they opened so the service was good not impacted by multiple tables and ordered first or nearly. I was disappointed overall as the aesethics really do lend the positive basis for a better meal. The bathroom was clean enough and stocked with the appropriate supplies. KH
I wanted to love this place so much. It's very expensive but seems like a higher end place. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation and the girl at the counter told us to go across the street and that we couldn't wait inside, which was bizarre. It was like a million degrees outside. Once we were seated, the service was pretty good. I got a ribeye and my wife got the filet mignon which she liked. Mine was supposed to be medium rare and was probably closer to well done. I don't complain but the waitress overheard me tell my wife that it was overdone and confronted me about it which was sort of awkward. I told her I don't like to complain but yes it was overdone. Then she agreed it was overdone and left. That was the last we heard about it before we got the bill. It was just sort of strange that she was the one who brought it up. Acknowledged it and then kind of did nothing about it. So the food was overall pretty good, but if you're going to have like a $300 bill I would expect a higher level of service than what we got.
Amazing dinner! We got the prime rib and 14oz ribeye and both were amazing. Sides were great and huge portions. Drinks were so good! Wild Orchid was perfect. The Bend ciders were amazing too. Service could not have been better. The atmosphere was calming and the decor was so cute. Was able to book a reservation the day before. We will back when we return to Bend!
