I have visited this place several times over the past 15 years. The food is decent, although I personally find the food, steaks, and service at Rustica next door to be better. The atmosphere and scenery, however, are among the best in Canada. Unfortunately, the service at Stoney’s Grill has consistently been disappointing. My previous review was deleted even though I simply described my experience. In my opinion, there seems to be a difference in how some non-locals, especially those with darker skin tones, are treated. In June 2024, I brought a friend who was visiting Alberta for corporate training. We waited for quite some time while two or three staff members, including the manager, were engaged in loud conversations and laughter instead of greeting or serving customers. Eventually, another waitress came over and provided excellent service. Throughout our meal, however, the manager and the other staff members continued chatting loudly. We left a 50% tip for the waitress because she deserved it and to make the point that customers should be served with professionalism and attention. Staff conversations should never take priority over providing a welcoming experience to guests.
