I recently visited this Italian restaurant for a date night, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was cozy, romantic, and just the right setting for a relaxing evening together. The staff was warm and attentive, giving us enough time to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed.
We decided to order two different pasta dishes so we could share and try more of the menu, and both were excellent. Each pasta had its own unique flavor, with perfectly cooked noodles and rich, delicious sauces that tasted fresh and homemade. The portions were generous, and every bite was satisfying. We also paired our meal with an appetizer, which complemented the pasta perfectly.
Overall, it was a memorable dinner with great food, excellent service, and a comfortable ambiance. The prices were reasonable for the quality, and the entire experience made for a perfect date night. We'll definitely be returning to try more of the pasta dishes and other specialties on the menu.
San Morello was an experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was beautiful, modern, and inviting, making it a great place for a date night, celebration, or a special evening out. The staff was friendly, slow though., but made us feel welcome throughout our visit.
The food was... OK.... not very flavorful, and but beautifully presented. Every dish was prepared on small portions, and you couldn't really taste the quality of the ingredients. The drinks were excellent as well and paired perfectly with the meal.
What stood out most was the relaxing atmosphere came together to create a memorable night. Definitely absolutely would not be my first choice for an Italian Restaurant. probably won't be back...
We had a fantastic experience for our anniversary celebration at San Morello. From Christian and the other wait staff being so helpful to the delicious food, we couldn't have asked for a nicer night. Our favorite dishes were the grilled artichokes with mint pesto, the polenta fries, the lamb bolognese, and the pistachio cake with olive oil gelato. We wanted dessert because it sounded so good, but we were full from dinner. We decided to walk around downtown Detroit for awhile and come back for dessert. We told the staff that's what we were doing, and they were happy to seat us right away when we returned.
We had a really great time from start to finish. Atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the staff were all very attentive and knowledgeable. Gisela set up our reservation and gave us excellent suggestions. Wine pairing recommendations and wine service were both top notch.
We started with the marinated olives, housemade rosemary focaccia and burrata crostini which did not disappoint. Every bite of the crostini was like a little charcuterie taster with the fig, burrata and hazelnuts. My boyfriend tried the fusilli gigante and I had the agnolotti di zucca. Both dishes were prepared beautifully and the flavours and serving sizes were perfect.
For dessert, we shared the dark chocolate budino. Very rich and flavourful with a creamy espresso ice cream on top.
We’ll definitely be back to try more options! This is a great spot for a ladies’ night!
San Morello is my absolute favorite Italian fine dining restaurant in Detroit.
During our first visit, we enjoyed a light pasta and eggs al forno, along with the pastry mini basket and an American. The eggs al forno were by far my favorite.
Recently, we tasted the dinner menu, selecting the Ceasar salad with toasted sesame as our appetizer. Certainly among the better versions of the Cesar, rivaled only my that at Fleming's. For main, we had the lamb bolognese and the spaghetti alla chitarra. The richness of the bologneses was deep. I caution that the spaghetti is toothy and very al dente, but I actually enjoyed the texture. The immersive flavors of the sauce from the chitarra was bar none. We capped the meal with two desserts: the strawberry tiramisu and the chocolate budino. The former was the star especially with the partnered rhubarb sorbet.
