Mamoun's Falafel is renowned as New York's oldest falafel shop, serving authentic Middle Eastern food since 1971. It's a casual, locally owned spot famous for its made-to-order falafel, offering a quick and flavorful experience. While the specific location in Manhattan (Greenwich Village) is a bustling spot, Mamoun's operates multiple locations across NY, NJ, and CT, and even offers nationwide shipping.
Customers consistently praise Mamoun's for its truly excellent and fresh falafel, often calling it among the best in NYC. The hot sauce is frequently highlighted as fragrant, and the baklava comes highly recommended as a perfect finish to a meal. Hummus is generally well-regarded. Reviewers note the small, limited seating, often making it a popular spot for to-go orders, and some describe it as ideal 'drunk food'. Some wish for more fresh vegetable options.
Established in 1971, Mamoun's Falafel has been a New York institution for over five decades. It has expanded beyond its original Manhattan location to several spots in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, and offers nationwide shipping through Goldbelly, allowing fans across the country to enjoy their classic dishes.
Given its popularity and limited seating, it's often busy. It's a great spot for a quick lunch, dinner, or late-night snack. Expect a bustling atmosphere, especially during peak meal times.
