Wow. Prior reviews encapsulate the high level of service, dynamic courses, and friendly atmosphere appropriately. I wanted to emphasize that Chef Furukawa maintains this level of dining to this day; with a seasonal (monthly) menu change that remains inventive and inspired. His recent James Beard nomination is more than deserved. This is a destination worth traveling to without question.
An absolute superb experience. We’ve gone to Kade No Mise a few times, but this was a special occasion. The dishes were composed of seasonal fresh ingredients with unique preparations that made even the more odd ingredients absolutely delicious. Be prepared that the focus is less on sushi and more seasonality, only one of the dishes was sushi for the month of October. A very rememberable dining experience and we’ll definitely be back.
Kaiseki is more then a meal. It's an experience. It's history. It's culture. It’s based in seasonal ingredients and valuing simplicity. Simplicity that relates back to Japanese tea ceremony. Wabi sabi. I appreciated the teas served alongside the meal and the sake pairing was fantastic. Heads up on the sake pairing, it's a lot of sake so don't do like we did and order a drink before that. The staff is fantastic and very friendly. Just like with Japanese Tea Ceremony remember 'ichi go icho e'.
It is hard to put into words the amazing experience that we had here at Kaiseki Furukawa in Minneapolis. This was the single best meal we have ever had in our lives. It was an honor to dine with Shigeyuki Furukawa and his team. Our minds were blown by the quality of ingredients and the thought and care that went into the design of each item on the 10+ course menu. We also had a sake pairing that added another element throughout. This restaurant is truly a world class gem and we are lucky to have it here here in Twin Cities.
Food and service was AMAZING. Reservations needed ahead of time along with pre-payment. It was about $160/person. Additional $80 for drink pairing (highly recommend). Food was delicious and well plated. I didn't think I was going to be full from a tasting menu but by the end of it, I was surprisingly full and satisfied. The menu changes monthly as the chef uses ingredients that is in season. Expensive but well worth it. Will definitely be returning.
