In many other markets, I think this would be considered a good restaurant. The service was great. Atmosphere? Lovely. Food? Beautiful - but bland. Criminally under-salted, very little use of acids… just bland dish after bland dish. The beef tartar and egg salad were very good… everything else (8+ dishes) was bland. Feels like the kitchen needs to discover citrus, vinegar, and salt. We were at Vermuteria last month and there is simply no comparison. Won’t be coming back here. Not because the food was terrible… it wasn’t. But because it wasn’t wow. And in Tel Aviv, a restaurant needs to be wow to survive. There are just too many other phenomenal choices.
eso is a stylish spot in a great central location with a lovely atmosphere, especially if you’re looking for drinks. The design is beautiful and the overall vibe is enjoyable (choose the bar seats or outside next to the bar for better atmosphere).
The food was decent, but we expected more. A few dishes lacked balance and flavor, and the fish bruschetta was particularly bland. The portions are also a bit small, even for tapas.
The service was polite but quite indifferent. I mentioned that I don’t eat cilantro, yet one of the dishes still arrived with it, and when I pointed it out, there wasn’t much of a response.
Overall, it’s a nice place with a good atmosphere, but there are better tapas restaurants in Tel Aviv (for example the awesome Vermuteria).

I went to ESO with my wife and we had such a great tim! The dishes were soooo good and such good prices. The host and waiters were so kind and gave their opinions on the dishes and I really enjoyed. They kept asking if everything was great or if I needed anything else and it was really nice having a service team that was so caring and thoughtful on your experience. I had a great time, will definitely be coming back!! If you’re debating you should for sure go
the place itself and the food are nice. but don't go there hungry. the dishes are extremely small (per price). the "bruschetta" were good (anchovy special, the fish were good, the grapes and bresaola ok) but one bite sized . the raw fish and main dishes were very small as well. the "ptitim" main was not great. the cocktails were good as well, but even there the cups were filled 3/4 of the way.
If you want to spend some time and your not hungry, the place is fine. otherwise, skip it.
