All items well prepared including our four side dishes with riz de lait dessert to go. All side dishes were over salted of varying degrees. The riz de lait’s rice was undercooked. Salt restricted people may struggle. I’m not, I just found the side dishes too salty. So did my other two people dining with me.
When I heard the team behind what is arguably my favorite French restaurant in the city is opening up a rotisserie chicken counter-service spot, I was immediately intrigued. It was quite a pivot but knowing what these chefs can do, I was pretty sure that it would be good.
I came on on first day an hour after they open thinking I'd beat the crowds. That was not the case. They were slammed with a line down the block and a pretty long wait for food. The patio was so packed we couldn't dine-in.
The rotisserie chicken was, as expected, excellent: tender, juicy, and flavorful all throughout. The sides were delicious and the sauces were also solid.
Once the line dies down, I could absolutely see myself coming here for a relaxing dinner with wine on their patio. The food definitely warrants a return visit. The wait, however, can wait.
Super simple concept, executed with exceptional standards. Rotisserie chicken, chimmichurri and au jus are stand outs. Salads and sides are great. Collard greens and macaroni gratin are next level. Nice enough to take a client, but casual enough to bring kids. Hard to find that balance!!
