Tao is an experience, thanks to its extraordinary decor, lively crowd, and sultry lighting that has it bursting with energy. Your palate will burst, too, thanks to Tao’s array of flavors, and be sure to leave room for Tao’s extraordinary giant fortune cookie dessert. Wow!
When you enter Tao, the color red is what pops out. It’s a warm, sultry color that sets the mood, that along with a highly energetic atmosphere, which the staff is eager to both match and manifest.
The menu is replete with many Asian favorites, and Tao put its mark on all of them — literally (see my photos).
It was my wedding anniversary and the staff recognized it at every turn, serving up complimentary tastes and gorgeous dishes.
The absolute highlight was the giant fortune cookie dessert, which was also served complimentary (it goes for about $25). Holy moly! The cookie sits on a bed of fruits and is filled on two sides with cream, one chocolate and the other Bavarian (or something like it). Off the charts.
Inside the cookie are fortunes, each inscribed with delightful messages that put an exclamation point on the feeling you inevitably arrive at, that Tao is all at once a whimsical, sexy, romantic, and culinary victory.
