Came here after seeing it on a best gastropubs list. Fab location and friendly service.
The food was a bit of a mixed bag though. The crab starter was tasty, but the roast pork belly had its ups and downs. The broccoli was al dente, the pork belly was mediocre, but the roast potatoes was another story in itself. And the gravy… let’s just say it left me pondering what makes a truly great gravy.
All in all, it did get me thinking about what makes a really good roast. Sadly, I didn’t find the answer here. Soz
There is a reason this is one of the most highly regarded gastropubs with the best Sunday roast in London. Highly recommend the Côte de beouf. Perfectly cooked with all the trimmings and an excellent frozen marg for those lazy Sundays.

I met a dear friend for dinner, I hadn't seen in about a year. It's just down the road from where he lives and Highgate, and it's a perfect place to catch up over a meal and a few drinks. Our service was excellent. The food was wonderful.

This place is highly rated for roast dinners. The meal was good... but not outstanding. The roast potatoes tasted dry and reheated. The vegetables were on the soft/sloppy side. Meat was good though. For the price I was expecting every element to be excellent.

Food has always been good here and the service is normally efficient and friendly. A slight hiccup a couple of months back when the service was slow and they delivered the wrong meals, but since I have been back twice and back to its normal high standard. It is quite pricey for a pub, even if it is a gastro pub, especially the wine. But you can normally be confident of a good meal and friendly staff
