I visited The Green Ape today, and I will say the atmosphere was really cute, trendy, and welcoming. They had nice music playing, and the customer service was great. The young lady who helped me was very kind and recommended the oxtails, since she said that’s what a lot of people usually get.
I wanted to start with the positives: the candy yams were good, and the macaroni and vegan cheese was okay. Not my favorite, but not bad either. I also tried the Hot Nor Honey wings. They had some spice, but I personally felt like they could have used a little more flavor. The dipping sauce, which I think may have been a vegan ranch, was decent. For me, the greens and the oxtails were a little too salty, especially the oxtails. It just wasn’t really my type of food, but I do understand this is a vegan soul food restaurant and everyone’s taste is different. They do have other things on the menu that may be really good, so I wouldn’t completely count them out.
In my opinion, it is a little pricey, but I also understand that when a restaurant is using natural or organic ingredients, the cost can be higher. Overall, my experience was okay. I wasn’t super impressed with what I tried this time, but I appreciate the atmosphere and the great customer service. I may try something else in the future, just not too soon.
Also, the young lady did offer me water and I said no now I know I probably should have taken it, especially with how salty the food tasted to me.
Stopped by to check it out, picked up lunch to go. The atmosphere was very cool and extra chill. Decided on the Soul Plate with the vegan fish. Food was ready to go after a very short wait, less than 10 minutes. It was not cheap, but the portions were generous so I didn't mind the cost. The candied yams were delicious and the Mac & Cheese was creamy, tasty and terrific. The greens were a touch spicy, fresh and very good. The stand out was the vegan fish filets. I air fried them when I got home to crisp it up again and it was craveable and crispy. The portions were enough to get two full meals from this one order.

I will definitely be back soon to explore more of their menu.
Very interested to check out the vegan Oxtails and several other interesting items.
Incredible quality vegan food that is well worth the price. Plates are well rounded and recipes are well thought out. Highly recommend. Best crispy lions manes wings we ever had. the alfredo is also incredible and will put you into a food coma! dont miss out on going to this spot!
The soul food plate was sooooo good. The yams were rlly sweet and good the greens were perfect and def one of the best vegan macs i've ever had. The fish was super good too. DEF RECOMMEND
My new favorite Vegan Soul Food spot!! FINALLY!! To be fair, I only had the Green Ape Soul Plate so far to kinda sample each of everything: the greens were phenomenal and they have a lil kick to them, the sweet potatoes were yummy and they kept those adjacent to the mac n cheese (iykyk) so they holy trinity of soul food was done right!! I had the fried fish which I believe was heart of palms and it was So good. Everything was flavorful & the presentation is highly appreciated!! The price is a bit scary but its 2026, hopefully they'll have a few deals throughout the year. Looking forward to trying their oxtail & more; HAPPY JUNETEENTH!!!
