Marmo

I would have given 3.5 stars if Google allowed it, but I’m rounding up to 4 because Marmo is still very new and I want to give them some grace as they work through the opening pains. The ambiance is absolutely 5 stars. The waterfront setting is hard to beat, the design is beautiful, the tableware is elegant, and the live piano and singer created a fantastic atmosphere. It feels like a place you’d want to linger and enjoy the evening. The food was enjoyable, but the service needs refinement, especially for an upscale restaurant at this price point where the experience is just as important as the meal. Throughout dinner, multiple staff members repeatedly tried to clear our plates while we were still actively eating, yet our water glasses sat empty for long stretches. Great upscale dining service is about reading the room and anticipating guests’ needs, and that balance just wasn’t there. The bar also seemed to be struggling. Drinks were very slow, and my second cocktail didn’t arrive until after my dinner plate had already been cleared. The restaurant was only about a third full, so I’m hopeful this was simply part of the learning curve that comes with a new opening. Marmo has a lot of potential, and I genuinely hope they find their stride because the setting and overall concept are outstanding. I’m looking forward to giving them another try in a few months.
