What a hidden gem my brother BobbyP shared with me. We celebrated his belated birthday. Everything was absolutely delicious. Beautiful atmosphere 👌 great location 14th Street NW DC, check out our pics
I’ve been coming here for so many years and I can definitely say that is one of the restaurants with the best hospitality and food. Highly recommend to everyone who decides to go and dine there to ask for my boy Walter or Candy, so you can even enjoy your dining experience better. They are the best one in the house!

We were looking for breakfast and Grok recommended the Highlands. It was terrific. I had eggs benedict with fried green tomatoes. My daughter Juanitas breakfast, and my wife the Tuscan breakfast. All wonderful. Five stars for the food and wonderful service.

Thoroughly enjoyed brunch at the Highlands. Simple cafe style setup with not a huge amount of space, but there was not too long of a wait to seat a party of 4. The Chicken and Waffle Entree included a waffle with a tasty batter and fresh and juicy fried chicken tenders. Unfortunately, the French Toast, which was a bit drier than I hoped, was not as tasty as it looked but was by no means below average. Lastly, the star of the show was the Juanita's Shrimp and Grits. The shrimp were large fresh and juicy; the cheddar Grits were packed with flavor and don't be put off by the "sweet apple cider sauce" in the grits description as the grits did not taste sweet at all to my recollection. I most definitely will be returning to try more menu items here as so many entrees look delicious!

My experience was not the greatest. The food was ordered with not an explanation and what went with the entrée. I did not like that because I would’ve substituted the red beans and rice or something with a salad cause I don’t eat red beans and rice and I had the fish dish with the Bronzino. The server was not kind at all. She never smiles when you ask her a question she snapped back at you. She never explained the entrées to us and we ordered a beer that we never got and paid for it. We didn’t realize we had paid for it until we got home. Her name is Candy. She’s not a good person and I’ve been coming to that place since it was established at the very beginning with Red Red Benny. Not pleased with that server at all. And I haven’t been there for a while because Walter was not all that great, but I’m not gonna come back.
