It was a good experience—I’ve had better brunch spots in the past, but overall it was still enjoyable. The space is absolutely gorgeous, with lots of plants and a really picturesque outdoor patio.
We ordered the famous cornbread, but it wasn’t my favorite. I’m dairy sensitive, and the combination of heavy butter and cheese didn’t sit well with me. I even took a lactose pill beforehand, but it didn’t help much.
The buttermilk biscuit, on the other hand, was my favorite—both my partner and I thought it was much better than the cornbread.
I also had the market salad, which was delicious and refreshing—I would definitely order that again. The Old Bay potatoes were crispy and very tasty. My boyfriend had the short rib hash, which was a bit dry and lacked the flavor he was expecting.
We also got freshly squeezed orange and grapefruit juice, and we really loved those.
Overall, I’d give it an 8/10. Probably wouldn’t rush back this year, but maybe revisit sometime next year.
My biggest Ick:
Parking. Hatchet Hall allows a parking lot next to it state Valet parking for Hatchet hall. They give you an electronic ticket that states apply validation. Surprise, there is no validation because they are not together. How would one know that if an establishment allows a lot to use their signs+logo everywhere?
Also, when we arrived for breakfast, we parked ourselves and the "Valet boy" counter not up yet. The teen employee walked after us to get the keys and give us the ticket. When all truths came out at the end of our time at the Hatchet, the parking teen employee explains "we are working for them. We are a third party vendor that supplies parking for them. It's pretty standard (w/ extra rude)" -___- There's an extra dollar for card so total $16 for parking. Moral of story: Get Street parking. Truly spoils the whole time really.
Hatchet Hall Food:
Small yet somewhat mighty menu. All foods come with 2eggs worth, so it was smart thinking to add two additional eggs to truly feel full. It's true the taste is improved with working along their various mom and pop shops. Nonetheless, nothing truly delicious or jumps out as a "I will crave this later".
Service quiet fast and servers were knowledgeable about the menu and options. I personally wouldn't return, though it was clear they do have returning customers.
Delicious modern American/ southern style cuisine. We had no reservations and hostess was so welcoming and accommodating. At a table waiter helped us to choose all the must haves. She was very helpful and friendly. All Portions are shareable.
Corn Bread - 100/10
Lamb - 100/10
Chicken - 100/10
Short-rib - 100/10
Had an incredible experience at Hatchet Hall for my graduation dinner. The food was absolutely superb, and every single detail felt thoughtfully prepared. You can truly taste the chef’s passion and love for the craft in every dish. Everything was immaculate from start to finish, the flavors, presentation, atmosphere, and service all made the night feel so special. Definitely a memorable place to celebrate an important occasion!
So yummy! 😋 Serena is the best! Lalalaloved the cornbread. Worth it just for that! Great atmosphere.
Not cheap though. Spent approx $170 w/tip for 2 people, no drinks. Cornbread, brussellsprouts, Carrots, Catfish bites, Short Rib
