Evangeline Swamp Room

A nice looking bar with mediocre food. Mediocre over cooked gator (had to chew it to death to eat it), very breaded fried okra, not much on tap (to be fair that was due to World Cup), and fairly over priced with additional service fee. Felt like for what we had it was overpriced and disappointing. My partner is from Louisiana and commented that there’s much better gas station food throughout the state. Live music was solid but during their break a loud random playlist was put on. Also generally nice decor and Blazing Saddles was on the TV, so I’ll give that to them too.

Having recently returned from New Orleans, my wife was dying to check this place out. The whole atmosphere, even including the bathroom decor felt very classic NoLa. It was beautiful :) They had many alcohol options and some signature drinks plus food available. We tried the Grasshopper and the Vieux Carre. My wife loved the Grasshopper, but I was a little disappointed with the Vieux Carre because it felt a little too watery from being shaken and it cost $18 which would usually be fine due to the ingredients but the watery-ness of the drink dimmed its qualities. I'm not sure if the gentleman that helped us was new, but even though the bar was not crowded at all since it had just opened, it took over 20 minutes to get our drinks made. The shrimp po boy was pretty good and filling and overall the environment was enjoyable to be in. I hope we can return and maybe try different drinks because we liked so much about the bar itself!

Really had a blast here. Same owners as the Little Jewel, which it’s connected to. The vibe and atmosphere here is perfect, and whoever curated the music really nailed it. My wife said her Bloody Mary was the best she’s ever had. Tons of food options at the bar. We had the bbq shrimp plate and the chargrilled oysters Rockefeller, which were both killer. Bartenders were very friendly and attentive. We’ll be back for sure.

Great Nawlins vibe without the Bourbon St scum in Chinatown! A super fun addition from the owners of Little Jewel of New Orleans next door right on the corner. Large open space with tables, hi tops and a wide bar counter. With a classic bar menu and a full bar to test the staff if you’d like. The best part is that you can order any of Little Jewel’s food from next door right to your table! Drinks weren’t too half bad, simple yet effective and of course the food is always top notch. But we’ll leave that review for Little Jewel! Plenty of parking in the area; metered, lots and the park. All in all a worthy addition to the neighborhood.

I was so happy to finally check out Evangeline. Great Happy Hour and even better specialty cocktails. Hope to head back when they have live music one day. The bartender was very sweet, despite the fact that we ordered the most annoying drink of all time (Ramos Gin Fizz!!!). I think I lost my hat while I was there and have yet to find a working phone number or email address!! Do you guys have a lost and found???
