Dishoom has been on my list for a while - I’m a huge fan of desi / South Asian cuisine. Needless to say, this place blew me away. It’s a high quality culinary experience from the second you walk through the door and all staff are absolutely incredible.
The place is beautifully decorated and there is a vast array of options on the menu. We just opted for a drink and main but I would definitely like to return to try some of the small plates.
I ordered the Chef’s Special - Lamb Shank Biryani - which was possibly the best biryani I’ve ever had!!! It was fragrant, spicy, and came with a beautiful sauce. The meat was also cooked beautifully. The bottomless house chai was also incredible!!
The rest of the party thoroughly enjoyed. We did manage to book - was relatively busy at the time, but a nice atmosphere.
Can’t wait to return, well worth the money! All meat is halal too.
Our visit to Dishoom at King’s Cross was very pleasant! The service was excellent and the team ensured that we were well attended to. Food was delivered in a timely manner and plates cleared out adequately to avoid overcrowding on the table. The food was full of flavor and the spices were well balanced too. I particularly enjoyed the desert, not too sweet just a perfect way to finish a meal right!

I love Dishoom and never miss a visit whenever I’m in London. We came here for an early dinner at 5.30pm and was able to get in without reservations. Otherwise pls reserve or you will be waiting at the long line outside the restaurant. The food that we ordered were grilled Lamb chop, Masala prawn
Chicken ruby and Broccoli salad. Everything was great and delicious. I had the house chai which didn’t taste as nice as the ones I had at another outlet. My companion had the margarita and it was a delight. Service is great and the food came out in a prompt manner. Dessert was great and it was mango season so we had a nice mango dessert.

Not Indian, but honestly I loved Dishoom. The King’s Cross location is now my favourite.
Food is very approachable even if you don’t know the cuisine. We had a couple of curries, chicken, rice, naan, and small plates, everything was rich, flavourful but not overwhelming. Spice level is manageable (you won’t suffer unless you choose to). The black daal especially is super creamy, feels like comfort food.
Naan is fresh and slightly crispy, perfect for sharing. Portions are good, we ordered a few things and it felt just right.
Drinks are incredible too - can’t remember all the names but my favourite is mango lassi.
Atmosphere is a big plus: warm lighting, busy but not chaotic, feels like a proper London dinner spot. Service was fast and friendly, no awkward waiting.
Good for: first time trying Indian, casual dinners, small groups.
Price: fair for London, not cheap but worth it.
I’ll definitely come back

My first visit to Dishoom King's Cross was an experience I'll remember for a long time. Located in the heart of King's Cross, just a short walk from the station, it's the perfect spot whether you're exploring London, meeting friends, or looking for somewhere special to eat before or after a day out. The restaurant has a fantastic atmosphere from the moment you arrive, and it's easy to see why it's so popular.
We visited as a walk-in and had to wait around 40 minutes for a table. At first, that seemed like quite a while, but after experiencing the food and atmosphere, I can honestly say it was absolutely worth the wait.
We started by ordering a selection of starters to share, and every dish was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and packed with flavour. Sharing a variety of dishes was definitely the right choice as it allowed us to sample different tastes and textures, each one as impressive as the last.
For our mains, everyone chose the chicken curry, accompanied by fluffy basmati rice and warm, freshly baked naan bread. The chicken was cooked perfectly, tender, juicy, and full of rich spices without being overpowering. The rice was light and fluffy, making it the ideal accompaniment, while the naan was soft and perfect for soaking up every last bit of the delicious curry sauce.
The drinks kept flowing throughout the evening, and we decided to sit outside, where the atmosphere was absolutely buzzing. Being in such a lively part of King's Cross added to the whole experience, although it did make us laugh that plenty of passers-by seemed fascinated by what we were eating!
Overall, Dishoom exceeded every expectation I had. From the exceptional food and welcoming service to the vibrant location and memorable atmosphere, everything came together to create a fantastic dining experience. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dishoom King's Cross to anyone visiting London, and I'll definitely be returning to try even more of the menu.
