Visited Babushka Pierogi at Findlay Market today. Upon our arrival, the blonde woman working did not greet us kindly or really at all. When we asked her for a recommendation of her favorite pierogi - as it was our first visit - she told us her favorite is “Potato Sauerkraut”, accompanied with a sauerkraut attitude.
We ordered the 4 for $11 deal, thanked her, and went on our way. Unfortunately, our pierogis were incredibly doughy in the middle. Many pierogis come doughy. However, the looseness and overly watery dough in the centers made us nervous of it being underdone.
When we returned and kindly asked for a refund, we were told, “I don’t know what to tell you. You ordered them.” Yes… and we were dissatisfied.
While she did replace our order with frozen pierogis (at our suggestion, by the way), she was kind enough to shove them in our direction after stomping to the freezer and yanking the door open.
At the end of the day, it’s not about doughy pierogis. As she stated, she eats them every day. They’re always doughy (I guess center included). She would know better than us. The crux lies within the attitude. She’s representing the company when she behaves in this manner. If I were the owner or manager and witnessed her, I’d be embarrassed. The interaction could’ve ended with a ‘no’ on a refund or replacing our soggy items at all. We probably would’ve forgotten it all by tomorrow. But, now, we’ll remember.
