64 Goodge Street

The food was beautifully executed and full of flavour. Every dish we tried was thoughtfully prepared and well balanced. The wine selection was excellent, and the recommendations were spot on. A special mention to Justine, who provided outstanding service throughout our visit. She was incredibly friendly, always smiling, and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. Her warmth and professionalism added so much to the overall experience. One of those rare places where both the food and service are equally memorable. Looking forward to returning soon. Highly recommended.

Lobster vol au vent & champagne set menu is great value for money. Food and wine were excellent. Special shout out to the extras throughout the meal which were unexpected.

Only recently realised that 64 Goodge Street offers an early evening menu at £49 for three courses, and during July and August they were also offering a Lobster & Champagne menu. I’d been wanting to try their lobster vol-au-vent for a while, which normally comes with a £12 supplement on their standard menu, so this felt like a good opportunity to finally try it. Overall, I had an enjoyable meal, although some dishes stood out more than others for me. Portions on the set menu are on the smaller side, but considering the price and the chance to try several courses, I thought it was a nice introduction to the restaurant. The meal started with a cheese sablé, which was a lovely little bite. Really buttery, with cheese cream and extra cheese shavings on top. I also added the snail bonbon after seeing it recommended online. It was very savoury and enjoyable, although slightly saltier than my personal preference. The bread was probably the least memorable part for me. The sourdough arrived warm with a moist, chewy crumb, although it cooled quite quickly and I found the crust a little tough. The brioche was buttery but fairly simple — personally, I would have loved a more fragrant brioche with that soft, springy and slightly chewy texture I really enjoy. The first course was jambon persillé, which pleasantly surprised me. I was initially worried it might have a strong meaty flavour or be overly salty, but the seasoning was nicely balanced and I really enjoyed it. The highlight was definitely the lobster vol-au-vent with sauce Américaine. The lobster was cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious. It leaned slightly sweet but still had plenty of seafood richness and savoury flavour. This was the dish I had been most excited to try and it didn’t disappoint. Dessert was crème brûlée with myrtille berries. This was more down to personal preference, as there was a particular note (vanilla?) in the crème brûlée that wasn’t quite to my taste, and I found the berries fairly simple alongside it. To finish, the petits fours were a brown butter and lemon financier and a raspberry and white chocolate macaron. Both were pleasant little bites and a nice way to end the meal. Overall, there were some definite highlights, particularly the jambon persillé and lobster vol-au-vent. Not every element was completely to my personal taste, but I’m glad I finally got to try 64 Goodge Street, and the early evening menu is a good-value way to experience the restaurant and try some of their dishes.

Food was honestly amazing, everything we ordered was spot on. The quality and flavours really stood out, one of those places where you can tell a lot of care goes into the food. What made it even better was the staff. They were genuinely kind and attentive, and they went out of their way to acknowledge my friend’s birthday with a thoughtful letter, which was such a nice touch and not something you see often. Overall just a superb experience, would definitely come back.

Valuable lunch set menu at £59. The Halibut main is tremendous, so tender and juicy, upgrade is recommended. Stuffed onion was also awesome, though it's hard to get it wrong. Choux a la creme was too crunchy, the only average dish of the 3. Casual vibes and basic service, compared to other starred restaurants it's more suitable for a meal with relatives than a special occasion.
