Beef and Bone Marrow Pie

Shepherd's pie is a savoury dish featuring cooked minced meat, which is then topped with mashed potato and baked. It is also known as cottage pie, with both terms having been used interchangeably since the late 18th and early 19th centuries, though some writers suggest shepherd's pie specifically contains lamb or mutton. The meat used can be either previously cooked or freshly minced. In French cuisine, a similar dish is called hachis Parmentier.
