Town Fare

My friend and I had a somewhat difficult time locating the restaurant as we didn't think the directions were clear, especially with it being my first time to the museum. Mid-level? What's mid-level? There was an elevator to the upper level from the level we were on but you had to go down stairs a level to get to the restaurant. So, what level were we on when we came in? Anyway, once we entered I noticed there was no table service so we had to decide what we wanted before we paid at the register. The line was short and there was a tender agel child, possibly 8 yrs old or so in front of us with some adults ahead of her. I assumed she was with them and not unattended. The cashier at the second register said next customer but said her register wasn't working and Michelle Mc Queen, who was at the first register, said we had jumped the line. So we went back and Michelle told the customer behind us that the second register, where we just were could take the order if paying by credit card so all of a sudden, the register was working. Hmmm... The food came fairly quickly. I ordered the deviled eggs, excuse me, the World Famous Deviled Eggs. To us, the filling was under seasoned. I had the fried pork chop with macaroni and chees and collard greens. The pork chop was salty and hammered. It was extremely dry. The Mac & Cheese had an ok flavor but the macaroni was mushy. The greens we good. My friend had the Fried Chicken Sandwich with fries. He offered me a piece of his sandwich and the coleslaw on it was good and needed to offset the overly salty chicken. I didn't try the fries but my friend said they were salty. None of the fried food was oily but it was very crispy. Michelle saw me in passing delivering a meal to a table and wanted to know how we liked the food. I said I would speak with her after. She stopped by and I told her the pork chop was overcooked and salty and, giving her the benefit of the doubt, the macaroni perhaps had been held too long(instead of being overcooked to begin with)as the noodles were mushy. My friend and I told the chicken was salty but the coleslaw was good. She pleasantly and immediately offered to re-cook the meal but I declined. To her credit, she didn't act offended or was offensive but wanted to satisfy a customer. Her attitude alone would make me want to go back. Plus I do understand things happen in the kitchen. The cook could have been distracted and perhaps lost time how long the pork chop had been cooking as a thin cut chop doesn't take long to overcook. If something isn't right with the food, I would go back as long as the food isn't horrible or the staff is dismissive. The food wasn't horrible and her attitude was perfect.
