There are hotels you enjoy, and then there are hotels you'll be talking about long after you've returned home. The Maker is definitely the latter.
From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with a glass of bubbly and treated like valued guests. The staff took the time to give us a tour of the beautiful property, including **The Gymnasium** next door, and from that point on, every interaction made us feel completely at home.
The attention to detail throughout our stay was simply extraordinary. The bohemian décor is absolute perfection, with beautiful, thoughtfully curated details around every corner of the hotel. Soft music was playing when we entered our room, immediately creating a relaxing atmosphere. After turndown service, the music had even been thoughtfully changed for the evening. Coffee and tea were delivered to our room each morning and again in the evening—just one of the many thoughtful touches that made us feel so cared for.
The bed was unbelievably comfortable, the pillows were so luxurious that you simply melted into them for a perfect night's sleep, and even the heated bathroom floor was one of those unexpected touches that made the experience feel extra special.
The food and cocktails were exceptional. The Maker's signature cocktails, inspired by their own fragrances, were unlike anything we've experienced and added another layer to what makes this hotel so unique.
Every member of the staff was warm, genuine, and attentive without ever being intrusive. It's rare to find a hotel where luxury feels this comfortable, personal, and unforgettable.
It will be hard to surpass the experience we had at The Maker. If you're planning a visit to Hudson, don't hesitate to stay here. We can't wait to return.
I spent $56USD and left starving. Popped into the Maker Hotel for a nice leisurely lunch on a very rainy day in Hudson. I'm in town visiting a friend. Stood there for 10 minutes while the wait staff ignored me. Eventually they asked a guy who came in after me if he wanted a table, and politely said, "I think this lady does, she was here first." The waitress looked me up and down and gestured to a nearby table, "guess you get the last one." Sat there for 10 minutes before I got a menu and some water. Eventually ordered the Coq au Vin pot pie. 20 minutes later, I got a croque madame. Let them know I ordered a different item. 10 minutes later, got the pot pie, which was maybe a half cup of chicken stew in a bowl under a disk of puff pastry. It was tasty enough but I was still starving after finishing it. I asked for a menu to order another item, and got an absolutely inedible coconut milk butternut squash soup, which I could only bring myself to choke down 3 bites of. The attitude of the waitress this entire time was brusque and vaguely annoyed. I hope they are nicer to their hotel guests than they are to their lunch guests, but I wouldn't go back here for a meal if you paid me.

We didn't get to stay here but we had brunch there. And it was absolutely spectacular from the moment you walked in, the service was excellent. The food was excellent. It's a must go to.

We booked a babymoon at The Maker Hotel and were genuinely excited about the stay. Unfortunately, due to the rare blizzard and extremely icy conditions upstate, we made the responsible decision not to travel—especially given that my wife is pregnant and safety was the priority.
We reached out requesting either a refund or a credit, expecting at least some level of understanding given the circumstances. Instead, the hotel manager repeatedly hid behind “policy,” showing zero empathy or flexibility. There was no attempt to accommodate us as guests facing a real-life situation—just rigid, money-driven responses.
What made this worse is that the hotel was able to rebook our room with another guest and collect the full amount for that stay, yet still initially refused any refund or credit. Only after they had been paid twice for the same room did they offer a credit for a future stay—completely missing the point. This was never about wanting a future vacation; it was about fair treatment and basic human decency.
If you’re considering staying here, understand this clearly: do not expect The Maker to work with you if anything unexpected happens, no matter how reasonable or unavoidable the situation may be. Policies matter, but hospitality is about people—and this place showed none.
We will not be returning and would caution others before booking.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Maker! The attention to detail was exceptional, down to the furniture and lighting selected for each room. When you walk into the space, you can tell that it was designed with a love of beauty. In addition to the stunning space itself, the thoughtful service made the experience so memorable. What a delight to wake up to a daily delivery of coffee and the NYT and to wind down in the evenings with tea. Thank you to the Maker staff for making our stay so special!
