We had an unforgettable evening at Semma! The Eral Thokku & Mulaikattiya Thaniyam was out of this world. Gunpowder Dosa lived up to the hype. The scallops from Annasi Pazham melted in the mouth, Veg Kurma, Kozhi Allepy, Gheeroast Lamb chops & Dindigul Biryani were beyond compare & the Mambalam was a delectable finale for the meal. The cocktails were delicious. Server had extensive knowledge about the dishes and was very helpful with our choices.

This is a really nice restaurant but the food isn’t too stand out. I like the scallops and the crab the best. The spice is very similar to the Malaysia I usually had for lunch. Sauce for the lobster is a bit too sweet and salty. The crab requires lots of time and effort to enjoy. I feel tired after opening up the shells and the hand glove keeps sliding off from my hand. Dessert is great especially it is mango season now. If the plate can be replaced more often that would be even better.

We did a small group tasting menu and everything was phenomenal with excellent service. We tried a few cocktails and our favorites were the Konkan and Panruti. For the food, there were so many Kerala dishes I had never tried before and each dish was unique. We loved each course. The highlights for me were the gunpowder dosa and the banana leaf seabass.

★★★★★ Semma is an absolute must-eat in NYC and a true South Indian treasure. Every dish was vibrant, deeply flavourful, and beautifully presented. The dosa was exceptional, the halal options were outstanding, and each plate felt both authentic and elevated. What made the evening even more special was the chef taking time to spend with us, which added such a warm and personal touch. Combined with the vibe, and attentive service, it made for a lovely night with my family. Truly an excellent dining experiences in the city!
