Rogacki was a historic Berlin institution, operating as a smokehouse and delicatessen since 1928. More than just a fish counter, it offered a unique market-hall experience where customers could select fresh seafood, smoked fish, meats, cheeses, and bakery items from various stands to eat on-site or take away. It was known for its old-school charm and vibrant atmosphere.
Customers highly praised Rogacki for its fresh and delicious seafood, particularly oysters, smoked fish, and eel. Many considered it a 'must-visit' and a 'Berliner Institute,' appreciating its unique charm, wide variety of options, and cleanliness. It was seen as a 'food treasure' in Charlottenburg.
Rogacki, a 97-year-old institution, was located in Charlottenburg, Berlin. It tragically closed its doors following the unexpected death of its owner, Dietmar Rogacki, in May (likely 2023 or 2024, despite some article dates showing 2025). The closure marked the end of an era for this beloved Berlin delicatessen.
Historically, it was a popular spot for lunch and casual meals throughout the day, given its market-style setup. However, the establishment is no longer operational.
