Customer Perception
Customers consistently praise Raphaël's Bakery for its delicious, fresh, and high-quality French baked goods, particularly the croissants and baguettes, which are often described as the best in Connecticut. The jambon beurre sandwich is also highly recommended. Reviewers frequently highlight the warm, friendly, and welcoming service from the family-owned team. Mornings can see long lines, indicating the popularity and freshness of their offerings. A minor critique noted is the use of generic milk for coffee drinks and a desire for more diverse milk alternatives.
The bakery is known for its commitment to traditional French baking methods and ingredients, including 'Les Moulins de Paris' flour. They also offer highly sought-after baking classes.

Stellar unapologetically French bakery! (Hopefully you like butter.) Get the jambon beurre. “Simple” dishes like these can’t hide behind anything; the jambon beurre here was flawless. Great ham, great butter, and one of the best baguettes I’ve ever had: extremely thick crispy crust that’s not a tough chew at all, light and soft and fluffy crumb, full of the flavor of wheat. You want to close your eyes and focus on the joy of eating. Take note of the different textures, the way the butter melts on your tongue, the aroma of wheat and ham as your exhale.
I took home a plain baguette and it was such a delight eating it as is. That’s how you know the bread’s excellent!
Raphael’s has a long line in the morning but that means they’re constantly taking things out fresh from the oven. The croissant was still steaming hot!
Raphael's bakery Greenwich provided a croissant, pastry pop up for my building today for 150 guests. They were extremely helpful and accommodating an early 630 AM delivery to my building. Every piece was fresh, still warm and delicious. The guests had high praise for the quality of all items. It would be difficult to find a better croissant in Greenwich.
Raphael’s Bakery has the best croissants, chocolate chip cookies, and baguettes in Connecticut. They use imported French flour and butter, and you can really taste the difference - everything is consistently exceptional. The zucchini, tomato, and cheese tart is one of my personal favorites, and the baguette sandwiches are just as impressive. Not to mention, their holiday specials are always a must.
The service is always warm and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. I also love that they bake in batches throughout the day, so there’s a good chance you’re getting something still warm and fresh out of the oven.
I love both the Greenwich and Darien locations. The Greenwich spot is especially great for sitting outside in the warmer months, while the Darien location offers plenty of indoor seating.
Their baking classes are in high demand, and I haven’t been able to find availability yet. I’d love to see them offer more opportunities to attend in the future.
I appreciate that their coffee is organic, but my biggest critique is the milk - they use generic Hood milk for their drinks. It would be a big upgrade to see them use locally sourced dairy, and just as great if they offered house-made almond or oat milk options with simple ingredients.
Excellent bakery. Very warm and friendly team behind the counter. Family owned. Delicious pain au chocolate, chocolate chip cookie and baguette. The iced latte was different than I was used to (possibly hot latte poured over ice? There was foam) but the baked goods and sandwich were delicious. Will make a beeline for this spot next time I am in town.
Their chocolate chip cookies are top tier!! I only wish you could buy two and get one free. Lol
Their croissants were flaky, buttery, and simply delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly, and threw in a free sample of their most popular product, a puff pastry croissant thing. It was delicious and I immediately walked right back in after my wife and I tried it to purchase more.
It’s a little busy, but I can see why after taste in the food, and having tables outside is nice to sit down after purchasing food.
Finally, the sandwiches were fantastic. The bread was delicious, the meats, cheeses, and spreads were fresh and phenomenal.
Can’t wait to go back and this is a must try for anyone visiting the area!
