Went with my wife on July 10, 2026. I ordered the tasting menu of 12 courses with non-alcoholic drinks. My wife had a recoto relleno entrée followed by a lomo saltado main dish, finishing off with a torta de chocolate dessert. She mentioned that thst she would give a 12 out of 10 for the rocoto relleno, and a 7 out of 10 for the lomo saltado. As for the dessert, she quipped the torta was the best she had ever had.
Turning now to the tasting menu, my overall experience was that my taste buds had never experienced so many new tastes. The drinks were perfectly matched to the dishes. The explanations were very detailed. The gentleman who was in charge of serving us mentioned how we should eat each course, that is, whether I should ingest the course immediately or wait, swallow it entirely on one gulp, or mix the components before ingesting; eat the course from top to bottom or in a certain order, or simply mix the components before ingesting , etc. In short eating turned into a discovery process which my mind became alert to the texture and taste of what I was eating. At the end, I felt sated but not full. Every employee was very courteous. The place was not noisy and the lighting helped enhance a feeling of tranquility.
In summary, this experience highlighted the importance of having someone with deep knowledge of the food and drinks guide you in your eating process.
Visited in May of 2026. Staff members shout "Maido!" in unison to greet every new guest. top-ranked Japanese-Peruvian fusion restaurant in Lima, Peru, led by chef Mitsuharu "Micha" Tsumura. Food, preparation and presentation incredible. Courses were well paced and explained. My wife and I enjoyed the 12 course tasting. Drinks were fabulous! A must while in Lima.

It was an amazing experience from start to finish. I was able to get a seat without a reservation, probably due to a cancellation.
I sat at the sushi bar and had a great conversation with one of the chefs. The service was perfect, friendly yet professional. The waiter was attentive without being intrusive, always there when needed without me having to call for him.
The dining room is nice, but I think sitting at the sushi bar is even better. Both the chef and the waiter gave excellent recommendations, and everything I ordered was delicious.
In the end, I paid around €100 for two drinks and several courses. Considering the quality of the ingredients and the preparation techniques, I didn’t find it overpriced at all.
100% recommended.

Maido was an outstanding memory for us! We did the dinning experience and it delivered. Willy was our server and he was exceptional! His presentation style & explanations were superb. The flavors, textures, & tones vividly expressed the chefs creations! Would highly suggest this experience to others!

Compared to Central when it was ranked 1st, I’m surprised Maido is ranked now the same. The experience was very fun, interesting, and delicious. Just praise for all the dishes in the 12-course experience. These were perfection.
Nonetheless, the service was good but quite disappointing for a restaurant ranked first in the world. The restaurant itself feels old and not built for a top tier experience. For example, we had to wait in a tiny reception with the door open and one guest standing outside of the restaurant while waiting to be seated. The stairs to the restaurant and bathroom right there are not ideal. All the infrastructure felt outdated but it was clean and okay.
About the service: the pace was good, but our server always seemed to be in a rush. We asked for the service to be in English because my husband doesn’t speak Spanish well and the whole service they were only talking looking at him. Like they ignored the Spanish-English speaker (me) for some reason. They were attentive to our needs and prompt but always looking over their shoulders as to check on other tables or stuff that was going on. We expected to feel their full attention but even when the service is effective, the staff should focus on connecting to the clients. I expected eye contact, patience and more kindness overall.
I do recommend the experience but the service is not excellent and not what we expected of the number one restaurant in the world.
