The location of Lunar is great, with plenty of parking. It was one of the hottest evenings, and we were extremely surprised to find they had no air‑conditioning. We asked, and they simply said they had none but it did make the whole evening uncomfortable.
We were particularly disappointed because the reviews were excellent, so we arrived with high expectations. The whole Camembert with homemade crisps as a sharing starter was genuinely lovely, but the mains let the evening down. My mushroom risotto was so salty I only managed a quarter (and I’m someone who loves salt). My husband’s chicken with mash, tenderstem broccoli, and peppercorn sauce went the opposite way - bland - although he did enjoy the crispy chicken skin. In true British fashion, we smiled, waved it off, and said nothing.
For the two of us (with a drink each), the bill came to around £90, and sadly, we wouldn’t go again. The best part of the evening was simply each other’s company.
We visited Lunar to celebrate mine and my husbands birthday in early January and had a fantastic lunch. We were very impressed in the style and background of Lunar for the different rooms with a particular interest in Darwin’s book and the enjoyment it held.
Fantastic cocktails, fantastic food and incredibly attentive service. There was a good range of non-alcoholic cocktails and wines which was greatly appreciated. We are very keen to come back soon.
We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The staff were absolutely top-class, warm, and attentive. We were even treated to an introductory talk about the impressive history of Lunar, which made the visit even more special. The place itself is stunning — the décor beautifully compliments its story and adds to the atmosphere. The food was simply beautiful — full of flavour and presented to perfection, truly 5-star quality. We will definitely be back!
We had lunch here and really enjoyed it. The food was excellent and the service was flawless. It’s also dog-friendly - you can sit in the outdoor area if you’re with your dog, which is a lovely touch. Highly recommended!
Wow!!! What a place, the food was absolutely outstanding, the mocktails are lovely and the atmosphere is absolutely wonderful, the staff are all very well turned out, smart uniforms brilliant service all around. I highly recommend a visit here if you are in the area, on a Sunday they have a lovely market to walk around outside before or after you go for your reservation. And not forgetting the lovely shops and showrooms they have around there. Perfect location 👌 and the decor is so fun!
