Rounded off an incredible weekend on the best island in Scotland with a fantastic meal here last week. Margaret and her daughter were great hosts, it really felt like being welcomed into their home. As far as the food itself goes; half-dozen Islay oysters, some of the best I’ve had anywhere in Scotland, set the tone for an evening that didn’t miss at all. Definitely put the Lochindaal Seafood Kitchen on your list when visiting Islay, can’t wait to return!
Underwhelming would be a good description on the restaurant. We each had soup as a starter, and although the proportions were large both were bland with no flavor. We both had the seafood platter. The scallops were good but the shrimp and crab were over cooked and devoid of any flavor. Having melted butter might have helped a little. 3 stars is probabally generous but the staff was friendly.

Table of 6 diners on a Friday night in June 2026. We were warmly welcomed by the staff. Food was excellent (I had the scallop burger) as was wine. Staff were good fun and helped create a nice atmosphere / took some nice photos of our group. There is an electric car charge point in the car park if that applies to you.

They were very accommodating of dietary restrictions. Definitely make a reservation. The meal was mixed: We agreed we had better Cullen Skink elsewhere, as the cream had split on this one. The fish pie was one of my favorite dishes of our trip! Others seemed less impressed with their dishes - the scallops in particular were disappointing.

Beautiful place. Very simple and quirky. The lady manager was super nice to me.
Suggesting options and offerings extra things [props to her that she did a good job].
I had two 1st courses and 1 main.
Everything was delicious, homemade, and very simple comfy food.
The flavours were really great too.
All in all, I had a good experience and I felt I was in a good working ambience.
Twin sister of the Lochindaal Hotel.
I will go.back this Sunday for the seafood platter. 😋
