What a nice looking BBQ joint! I am used to a more rustic look. But don’t let the shine deter you. They are making some amazing food! We had the brisket, smoked turkey, sausage, and corn pudding. I don’t think I can choose a favorite. Each bite was better to a the last. Good thing I don’t live closer- I would be there all the time!!!
Very very busy place. We got way too much food, wanting to try everything we could, nachos with brisket were awesome With beef tallow chips! Thats a meal.
We also tried and loved the sliced brisket, choped brisket, green chili cheddar sausage. Turkey was good but not the star. We dont eat corn but wife said the corn pudding stuff was good.
Oh and the tallow fries were awesome and thick really soaked in the tallow flavor.

Recommended by my brother in law, it completely blew away my expectations. A bit unconventional with the line system and ordering the food at the counter but everything was fantastic. The brisket was my personal favorite, probably the best brisket I’ve ever had. The pulled pork was beyond exceptional. The ribs were a bit on the brimey side, but still enjoyed them. Surprisingly great value for the amount we spent vs the amount of food we got. If you’re in the mood for great BBQ in Charleston, I would not recommend anything else! Go to Lewis!

Lewis Barbecue absolutely lived up to the hype.
We ordered the brisket, and as someone who enjoys smoking brisket at home, I can honestly say they nailed it. We specifically asked for the point end (the fattier portion), and it was outstanding. The bark was exactly what you hope for, the smoke flavor was spot on without being overpowering, and the fat-to-meat ratio was perfect. Every slice was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. You can tell they know what they’re doing.
We also tried the brisket nachos. They were good, but honestly, if it’s your first visit, I’d skip the extras and just order more brisket. The brisket is the star of the show and doesn’t need much else.
The only thing to keep in mind is that the line can get pretty long, especially during peak times, so plan your visit accordingly.
Overall, fantastic barbecue, friendly service, and some of the best brisket I’ve had in the Charleston area. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely be back.

Whenever we come to Charleston we love Lewis’ bbq! There were six of us for dinner. We got 2 lbs of brisket, 1 lb of pulled pork, 1 spicy sausage, potato salad, cole slaw, and Mac and cheese. It was all fantastic. But I think the sliced brisket (dry) is my favorite. The Cole slaw was my favorite side—everyone else liked the potato salad and Mac better. For dessert we got their pies (which I recommend you skip—they’re not worth the space). NOTE: We were there on a Friday night and waited about 45 mins. But it was totally worth it!!
