I ate here as a recommendation and it was 100% the right choice. Started with the Mussels, which apparently is what earn the James beer nomination. I had to Wagyu Ragu, which was also fantastic and finished with the crème brûlée with Amarena cherries. Victoria was my server and she made an already amazing dining experience even better. thank you to you and your team! Highly recommend.
SLC finally has a truly creative, amazing food, matching the wonderful hospitality that Utah possess! Absolutely loved it! I would put them against any restaurants in Park City, our home city, West Loop in Chicago, or LA, NYC and SF! Every dish was so creative, like the miso mussels, midnight burrata, Argentinian shrimp ravioli in Champaign sauce, or the pasta Vongole with abundance of mini clams mixed in with the pasta along with larger clams in shell surrounding the edges of the plate! Both the presentation and the taste far exceeded expectations!
ad a really good date night at Junah this past Saturday (6/20/26). It's Italian-Japanese fusion, which seems like an unusual pairing to me, but I feel it worked very well.
Standouts were the miso cod, Aurora crudo, tagliolino al mentaiko, and matcha tiramisu. The cod was the overall winner. My wife said it was one of the best things she's ever eaten, which is high praise from her.
Overall, I thought it was one of the more interesting upscale meals I've had in Salt Lake recently. The vibe was not stuffy at all, and we had a great time and incredible service.
Low light was the inability to seat us for our reservation on time despite a text confirming our table was ready. I hope they can get that figured out!
I had high expectations for the food here, but it ended up not being very good. The appetizers were too salty, especially the beef carpaccio. The gnocchi was soft to the point of dissolving, and the citrus broth around it overpowered the dish. The cabernet pear dessert was a cool thought - the pear was presented well and tasted good, but the amaretto cookies overpowered the dish and the yuzu cream had no taste. Overall, the flavors of the food sounded interesting but they weren’t combined in a way that was complementary. It felt like an Italian restaurant that tried to put in Japanese ingredients as an afterthought. The decor and ambiance are nice but the service made it feel like a casual restaurant. All of our courses came out quickly which was nice.
What a delightful evening! We read about Junah in Salt Lake Magazine so our expectations were high but they were more than met! The space is intimate and elegant though going casually would feel comfortable as well. There were numerous vegetarian options on the menu and we had a hard time selecting. Luckily, our server, Savanah, was knowledgeable, conscientious, and made great recommendations. They don’t have a full bar (yet), but wine choices were lovely. Don’t miss Midnight Burrata and Matcha Tiramisu and explore in the middle! Wonderful date night.
