I tried out the Imperial Palace of Big Red for some post-gig drinks after a visit to O2 Forum, which is an easy stroll away (even saw a fox enroute). They had a great selection of spirits, including some more unusual ones from metal bands like Machine Head's Shotgun Whiskey and Slipknot's No. 9 Iowa Whiskey.
So always giving a fair review, best part of this place was the service, the food was delievered from a outside company so wasnt in house, wasnt great either, the smoking area is connected to the pool tables so all you can smell is peoples cigs and the smoke is overwhelming, also witnessed a guy dealing in the smoking area also. The music was cool the bar itself is beautiful and awesome.
Edited December 2025: music is way too loud now on Saturday, such a shame as I love this place. Had to shout to talk to friends next to me, left early.
So great to have a rock bar back at the old Monarch venue & awesome that it's owned by the old Big Red crew. Really enjoyed my first visit tonight with friends. As others have said it's so nice not to have to shout over music like some others in the area. Decor is fab & love all the animal print! Will be back again soon for sure.
