Waited over an hour in line while there were clearly empty tables inside the entire time (bad management). Once seated, it still took about 10–15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us.
We ordered two cappuccinos, two of their “famous” torte, and an apple strudel - another 20 minutes before anything arrived. The torte, which is supposedly their highlight, was disappointingly dry. I normally skip whipped cream, but here I actually needed it just to make the cake edible. The apple strudel was equally underwhelming and nothing special.
To make matters worse, everything is highly overpriced for no apparent reason - the quality simply doesn’t justify the cost.
Overall, this place feels like a classic tourist trap - long waits, slow service, and mediocre food that doesn’t live up to the hype. The 4.0 rating should have been a warning sign that I unfortunately ignored.
If you’re still in line and reading this, do yourself a favor - run.
We were lucky enough to get a table at the café on a Saturday morning without a reservation or any queue at all.
What a beautiful location! The design is very appealing and elegant. Understandably, the prices are on the higher side, but the quality of the Sachertorte and the coffee drinks is absolutely first-class.
If you are visiting Vienna as a tourist and want to treat yourself to a little piece of luxury, this is exactly the right place for you.

The atmosphere is impeccable and does give you a cozy feeling while having a balcony view to the busy shopping street below.
Service was attentive and listened to our requests. While the breakfast food was just alright, the desserts and drinks were definitely the highlight of the meal. I would recommend only coming here for the tasty cakes and sweet drinks!

Another cafe with long queue.
Hot chocolate with whipped cream has good taste. Original Sacher Torte and Wiener Apfelstrudel are delicious.
Staff is friendly.

The most overrated place I have ever seen. The only positive thing about the café is its historical, cozy, typically Viennese interior. But that's where it ends.
The first annoyance is that you have to stand in line outside for at least half an hour, even though there are several empty tables inside—the slow staff, incapable of managing things effectively, simply don't care. Furthermore, the 'Original Sacher Torte' itself is a total disaster. An overpriced, small piece of dry, cheap, tasteless cake for €10.90, and the Sacher punch dessert—about the size of a coin—for €8.90 was slightly better, but also nothing special.
Then you wait an hour for them to come and settle the bill, and they still have the audacity to ask for a 5–30% tip. The best response is to give no tip and not recommend this place to anyone.
