We rented out Gys for our wedding party last week and it was hands down the best experience ever. Sara, Youri, Sam, and the entire team went above and beyond to ensure the day went flawlessly. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was gezellig, and it's all thank to some really hard work from some truly kind people. Thank you guys. We can't wait to come back.
Very nice that this place is completely vegan and all food is organic, the service was of sufficient quality, however, not exceptional. There was very different quality to various dishes. Some were delicious and some had some issues. The tofu dish with ramen elements was way too salty, the fried mushroom tasted like they hadn’t been freshly fried and the kurkuma cauliflower was overcooked and too oily. I make the last two dishes at home and with better quality. That must improve. Some dishes were very nice, the beet/red onion/blackberries (I think this was with sumak) dish was very tasty, and also the labneh/jerusalem artichoke dish was awesome. So definitely something to enjoy. There’s a nice range of interesting non-alcoholic drinks which were very tasty.
So I’d say, the quality in the kitchen should become more consistent. But there is definitely potential.
The pancakes come with, like, 5 berries, and some fruit sauces - not enough toppings and overall not enough food.
The selection of non-alcoholic, non-caffeineited drinks is very, very limited. No decaf offered.
The shakshuka came with half a piece of bread, ordering more cost extra.
We tried the cake platter - the banana bread was absolutely inedible, maybe it was old?? The chocolate cake is more like a snickers bar, I didn't like it. The carrot cake was really good.
The loaded fries side was also very good.
The service was fast, but not very kind, though respectful enough. There was a lot of emphasis on time, like telling us and reminding us of the end time of our reservation, staff checking their hand watches when we would order more food, etc. Overall not very hospitable.
Food went downhill when they started this shared dining concept. Some dishes were nice (cauliflower & mushrooms), others where just very weird (sunflower, koolrabi). In general most foods were overall greasy/deepfried and very salty.
Service was fine (- 1 star because we asked for tapped water 4 times and they kept forgetting it).
