My husband and I decided on Frenchie's Diner for a date night to enjoy some French food, which is not something we do often. I had not been to Frenchie's since pre-COVID, but this place has not lost its charm. We started with charcuterie and cheese, which was an authentic French treat. My husband ordered the filet mignon, which was enormous and perfectly cooked, with a delicious buttery sauce, a crisp side salad, and homemade fries. I ordered the moules, which were drenched in a delicate "soup" of garlicy broth with onions, and also came with a side of perfectly crispy golden fries. Our meal was simple, but so satisfying and so delicious. We will be back for the food, and we will also be back for the SERVICE. Our waiter, Gilberto, was perfectly attentive without being overwhelming, and we always had what we needed. The restaurant is charming and intimate, a perfect place for a date night or a night with friends where you want to transport yourself to one of the most romantic cities in the world without having to hop on a 9 hour flight.

We walked there in the evening and had a reservation which we booked about an hour before we arrived. The food and service were excellent, our waiter was very helpful and our drinks arrived quickly. It had a real feel of a french establishment and we started with a couple glasses of Sancerre. The flavor of the french onion soup was extremely well balanced and I highly recommend their pepper steak (au poivre) which is done with filet mignon. The cook on the steak was exactly what I asked for and you can tell the chef is precise and confident with all of the dishes. The atmosphere was pleasantly subdued, dim and had its own flair, you can tell the reason this place has been around so long is because they have a reputation for success. I think either the manager or the owner stopped by our table to check in on us as well, which we appreciated. We ordered their prawn special and my wife was thrilled with how it came out. I want to go back for some escargot and try their other dishes sometime.
