Wonderful experience to be greeted by the manager Tara once you walk through the door. The bartenders Laggy and Oscar are charming and knowledgable. I was even able to learn a bit more about wine while chatting with one of the sommeliers Chantal. A must visit if you appreciate attention to detail, a unique concept and excellent service. Excited to return with friends!
Had an incredible dinner which started with the incredible house made focaccia and a couple incredible cocktails. The Wiccan Chicken for my main was the best Chicken Milanese I have ever had (Perfectly fried, juicy, and bursting with flavor). I finished with a the Torta Della Nonna and wow I knew I had the perfect meal. Aside from the incredible cuisine the ambiance was unmatched and service was friendly, attentive, helpful, and proud of the dishes and drinks they are serving. Will be back.
W.O.W! My husband and I had no idea when we chanced in to Ellizabetta La Strega that we’d be having one of the most memorable late-night meals of our lives! After a delayed flight to DCA, we were worried about late night options with kitchens open after 9pm- and Ellizabetta La Strega was the perfect choice for a quick 2 minute walk from our hotel. Stepping over the threshold, you know you’re in a special place! The drink menu was exciting (we tried the Italian Crone and the Caribbean cocktail- both excellent) and with all pasta being made fresh in house it was an easy decision to tuck in for a nice meal! The only thing that could possibly put-perform the dishes and cocktails were the staff themselves- every person was welcoming and made us feel right at home. I wanted to give a special thanks to our bartender Amelia who gave us a little walk around the place near closing to tell us about the owner (and the art she created that lines the walls!), the different spaces in the restaurant, and also introduced us to the chef with a quick tour of the open kitchen. From start to finish our experience at Ellizabetta La Strega was truly magical, and I hope it continues to enchant and delight the Foggy Bottom neighborhood for many years to come!
I had the chance to preview Ellizabetta La Strega during a Bertani Amarone della Valpolicella wine tasting, and there was so much to like. The table began with an amuse bouche and a generous selection of breads and spreads. Nonna’s basil pesto had freshness and lift, while the stuffed tortellini was delicate and beautifully sauced. The mussels came in a savory tomato broth made for soaking up with the cheese topped bread. The Wiccan chicken Milanese was crisp and juicy, and the Berkshire porchetta was my favorite, succulent tender pork beneath a crackling exterior. Even the sides felt thoughtfully prepared. Dessert was sublime, with Recioto dessert wine alongside excellent tiramisu and an assortment of cannoli.
Service was gracious, friendly and efficient. The room has a wicked sense of style, with rich colors and cool paintings throughout. I’m especially looking forward to seeing the full wine list and returning for dinner or around Halloween. A welcome new addition to the storied former home of Marcel's. Cheers!
