Ekaa is probably a well kept secret in Mumbai (no influencer marketing, no reserve one month in advance and bookings close in one minute) and what you get is Excellent food and service. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys fine dining. My husband and I went to Ekaa on a Tuesday evening. It was surprisingly easy to get a reservation (after dining there I expected it to be booked weeks in advance, it was so good). I had the 20 course vegetarian tasting menu and my partner a non veg one. The food was really good and well thought out. Flavours were complex and the textures wonderful. We only had 2 drinks but they were standout too. Our favourites were the tomato dish, an almond soup, crust, roots, the Harry Potter and cacao desserts. I liked that there were dishes inspired from different parts of the world and the flavour profile was likewise varied and not based on a single cuisine. The service, explanations and a nice conversation with the head chef made for a really good evening. The price of 5 K for such a legendary tasting menu was in my opinion extremely reasonable. Hope I will be back again soon.
"Thank you for the effort and hospitality. To be honest, the experience didn't work for me. Spending 3.5 hours at the table was quite difficult, especially because most of the dishes didn't resonate with my palate. Out of the 20 courses, only a handful stood out. While I could appreciate the creativity and presentation, I found many of the dishes lacked the flavor impact and memorability I was hoping for. By the end, the length of the meal felt more challenging than enjoyable." Presence of flies in the dining area further affected the experience
I had an amazing time at Ekaa! The Team gives the best hospitality and everyone is so nice. "It was one of the best food experiences in quite a long time." Chef Niyati Rao is brilliant, and her food is wonderful. A big thank you to Kaustubh for his great service. They all made our night very special!
An exceptional fine dining destination that truly stands out for its thoughtfully curated cuisine. Each dish is meticulously crafted, reflecting a high level of creativity and attention to detail. The ambience is serene and inviting, offering a calm and refined dining experience. The open kitchen concept adds a unique touch, allowing guests to appreciate the culinary process firsthand. The staff is highly courteous and knowledgeable, taking the time to explain the ingredients and even providing a guided walkthrough of the space, which enhances the overall experience.
We walked in to Ekaa with extremely high expectations of their Tasting Menu but were super disappointed.
Two courses were sent back by us after the first bite itself. Another one was sent back by me because it was way too bitter. What’s surprising was the lack of understanding of how an ingredient works when its structure changes.
A soup featuring kewda foam felt like drinking a biryani. Is the Indian palette so difficult to understand? The keyword was “hyper-local ingredients” which was pure sham as the only local thing was amaranth or laal maath, that too, raw. None of their dishes hit the mark except the fish roulade which had some freshness. Others felt like experiments to impress technique-wise with no attempt to satiate the foodie’s soul.
