We got married here five years ago during the pandemic, so we were excited to return and celebrate a few special milestones with the same exceptional experience we remembered from October 2020.
Unfortunately, this visit didn’t quite live up to those memories.
There were definitely some bright spots. The staff kindly accommodated a last-minute addition to our group when friends brought their toddler to dinner, and we appreciated being moved to a larger table. The complimentary celebratory cake at the end of the meal was also a thoughtful touch.
That said, both the food and service felt underwhelming compared to our past experiences. The biggest issue, however, was the temperature inside the restaurant. Whether the AC was not working properly or simply not turned on yet, there was almost no airflow despite the doors being open. Combined with the humidity from the water, it became very uncomfortable during our three-hour dinner. We did ask about the air conditioning, and while someone appeared to check on it, nothing improved before we left.
As for the food, everything was good, but nothing stood out as memorable. We ordered a custom seafood tower, crispy rice, and Caesar salad to start, followed by steaks, seafood entrees, and several sides for the table. One friend’s steak arrived potentially overcooked, which led to the unusual experience of a flashlight being brought out to inspect the doneness. While our server offered to have a new one made, we proceeded with our meal since the service times were so delayed.
Our server, Sonny, was very kind throughout the evening, though he seemed stretched thin while other staff appeared less occupied. Since we had an early 4:30 PM reservation, the inconsistent pacing was surprising. Our appetizers arrived before our cocktails, and we were already being set up for dinner before Sonny had a chance to fully organize the table. The supporting waitstaff helping with sides was appreciated, and eventually all dishes made it to the correct guests.
Overall, while there were some thoughtful moments, the experience did not match the level we expected for a $300+ per person dinner. We hope the restaurant works through the service and facility issues, because we would love to return one day and have the experience we once remembered so fondly.
