Lovely Saturday luncheon. The environment is very homely and relaxing, making it a perfect spot to catch up with old friends over a long conversation. (Tableware also felt thoughtfully chosen :))
The ingredients were fresh throughout the meal. The oysters were excellent, and the pork was particularly memorable — easily the highlight of the lunch for me.
The only minor drawbacks were that the bean sauce was a little on the salty side, and perhaps the playlist could be improved a bit to fit the whole environment more (though that’s very much a personal preference).
Overall, a warm, comfortable dining experience. I’d love to come back and try the dinner menu sometime.
Overall, this restaurant is quite good. The food was served promptly, and the service follow-up was attentive. The environment is pleasant with a great atmosphere, and almost every dish was introduced to us when served. Some of the dishes were slightly on the salty side, but that was not a major issue. The value for money is excellent — you can definitely leave feeling full. Everyone in the restaurant provided very good service.
However, there was one unpleasant experience at the time of payment. A staff member (an Indian gentleman) handled the bill in a rather impatient and rude manner. A few days ago, the restaurant had kitchen maintenance and offered a complimentary drink. I was unsure whether this was reflected on the receipt, so I simply wanted to clarify. Unfortunately, he was very impatient, unwilling to check my email, and responded with a bad attitude.
This is not about race — it is about professionalism and manners. In a Michelin-level restaurant, such behavior should not happen. Hospitality means respecting guests, especially during the payment process. Staff should remain courteous and patient at all times.
I hope the management takes this feedback seriously, as the restaurant overall is very good and deserves better front-of-house professionalism.
The staff and head chef are amazing hosts. Friendly, professional and nearly psychic. Their attention to detail is fantastic. We could not have asked for a better night and more interesting seasonal, British food. Go here immediately
Avoid this restaurant if you have any dietary restrictions!
We informed the restaurant well in advance (the reservation was made three months ahead) that I am pregnant and cannot eat undercooked meat, along with several other dietary requirements. We were reassured multiple times that this would not be an issue and that they could accommodate us.
However, at the welcome course they immediately served raw meat (as you can see in the photo), without offering any alternative. Then, on the very first course, they confused the cooked and raw meat portions — I almost ate it by accident. At that point all trust was gone, and I spent the rest of the evening anxiously checking whether every dish was properly cooked.
The final breaking point was the Wagyu main course, which we sent back to the kitchen twice because it remained visibly red after cutting.
The staff clearly did not understand how vulnerable a woman in early pregnancy is, or how serious the consequences of unsafe food can be. Their attitude was dismissive and they showed no concern about the situation. After sending the meat back the second time, we left — the evening that was supposed to be relaxing turned into constant stress and constant checking, and I ended up in tears.
The restaurant never asked about our experience and did not offer any apology or compensation.
Perhaps the stress affected perception, but even the food we did eat was not tasty.
I cannot recommend this place to anyone — a terrible experience.
Update: After the review was posted, the restaurant reached out to us directly to discuss the situation and offered compensation. I appreciate that they made an effort to address the issue afterwards.
We came for dinner and really enjoyed the experience from the bar to kitchen to dining area. The service was refined yet friendly. There were some interesting flavours in the 15 courses but everything worked for me. My favourites were the A5 wagyu snack, crab, wagyu and scallop (supplement) and the pigeon. This is definitely a special occasion place but I highly recommend it!
