Wow wow wow
Just spectacular. The food was amazing - best oysters we ever tried (and we are not much of oyster people). They were so good we ordered 2nd round.
The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable.
We started with a cocktail and then move on to the set Sunday lunch menu with a bottle of cap classique. Which was amazing.
Would definitely recommend it and repeat anytime.
It’s pretty quiet so very nice for a special occasion.
My recommendation would be to choose a table with winery views. I booked the “kitchen table” hoping for more contact with the chefs, but it was just a regular table next to the kitchen 😅 next time I would go for the winery view one.
Anyway the experience was great and food is delicious.
I had the pleasure of dining at Chef’s Warehouse while in Cape Town, and it was truly a standout culinary experience.
We went for the curated tasting menu and shared everything so we could experience the full range of dishes. The entire evening felt intentional, every plate was introduced with such detail, which made the experience even more immersive.
First, the views at night are absolutely breathtaking. You’re looking out over the city lights, and it creates such a beautiful, elevated atmosphere that complements the dining experience perfectly.
Now, the food:
• The oysters were unforgettable, easily a highlight for me. They had a citrusy brightness with a gentle kick of spice, refreshing, flavorful, and perfectly balanced.
• The bread course was exceptional, not your typical bread, but something artisanal and thoughtfully crafted. Simple, but done extremely well.
• The seafood dishes, including the seared tuna and another beautifully prepared fish course, were fresh, delicate, and packed with flavor.
One dish that truly stood out was the springbok venison loin. Cooked medium rare to perfection, it was incredibly tender and rich. It was served over a deep, earthy mushroom base and paired with elements like a parmesan and garlic marjoram pear salad, confit chestnuts, and finished with a smoked beef bone marrow butter and a touch of port. Every bite felt layered and intentional, a perfect balance of richness, sweetness, and umami.
Another beautifully creative dish featured a scallop-topped shumai (an open dumpling), paired with braised leeks, mussels, and a delicate champagne jelly. It was light, elegant, and thoughtfully constructed without being overpowering.
Overall, the food was a solid 9/10.
The only part that didn’t quite land for me was dessert, which I’d rate a 5/10. It just didn’t match the creativity and execution of the rest of the menu, and I’d recommend they work on that.
The service was excellent from start to finish. Attentive, knowledgeable, and warm. Even though the weather was nice, there was a slight breeze, and without us asking, they brought us blankets, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the experience even more comfortable.
Would I go back? Absolutely. I truly enjoyed the experience, and I think everyone visiting Cape Town should try it at least once.
An experience worth doing!
Super friendly staff, amazing location and view and not importantly delicious food.
Each dish was super special and unique with different flavors and ingredients. They make every single course special.
Only downside: portion size is not big so don’t come when you’re starving
Nothing short of amazing, some of the best food in Cape Town - for many years now! Very friendly staff, creative dishes and some of the best oysters I‘ve ever had.
