A celebrity chef restaurant that actually lives up to its reputation. Chef Alex Guarnaschelli has created a masterpiece restaurant. We dined here to celebrate an anniversary and the staff went above and beyond to make it a special night. Our server, Janet was accommodating, attentive and never overbearing. The food was truly spectacular, and I judged extra hard because of the restaurant's pedigree. We began with the house made rolls and butter, highly recommended and delicious. We shared the char grilled octopus which was cooked perfectly and served over a white bean puree. The Brussels sprouts salad is delicious and covered in smoked pecans making it taste remarkably like bacon with no meat. The gnocchi Mac and cheese is also delicious with gnocchi as soft as pillows. Entrees included the pan seared branzino, perfectly cooked with crispy skin and grilled lamb rack served over french lentils. Desserts are equally stunning and creative cocktails are the bar's wheelhouse. Truly a five star experience.

This meal was outstanding! Yes, I watched Gossip Girl so that's what initially piqued my interest, but then the reviews and menu reeled me in. I am so glad we came here! It was truly a wonderful experience. We of course started with the roles, they were absolutely delicious and I had to stop myself after eating two, to save room! Then we shared the octopus appetizer. I have had a lot of octopus and a lot of fancy restaurants, and this is hands down the best octopus I have ever consumed. It was extraordinary! My highest recommendation is to get the octopus. After that, we had the short ribs and the mac and cheese and a kale salad. The kale salad was the only dish that was not exactly my favorite, I think maybe there was too much dressing, or the dressing was too tart. It was not horrible. Just not as good as everything else. But the short ribs were fantastic, as was the famous mac and cheese. We were almost too full for dessert but had to try it. The chocolate ice cream was delicious, as were the raspberry beignets. This is a fantastic place to go if you have something to celebrate. Also, the service was excellent, warm, friendly and professional.

Ambiance was lackluster. Food was decent. Highly recommend the veal bacon. Pork chop and short rib were good. Cauliflower had decent flavor but should have been offered as a side item. Drinks were good.

The food was good. The service was attentive. For foodies and Food Network junkies, we expected more from a celebrity chef restaurant. No complaints. But worth so much else to see, there was no sparkle to make us want to go back next time we are in NYC.
